NS P87 makes the usual morning run to Bridgewater as it passes the classic scene departing Old Fort with the Great Smoky Mountains providing a backdrop. With the Evergreen Packaging Company in Canton set to close within the next 2 months at the time of this scene, P87 became a priority for me to document. I was lucky in that P87, the local that runs to the Bridgewater Chip Mill that serves Evergreen & the only guarantee move over the Southern Loops, was set to make its final run the following Thursday. Another case of get out & document because you never know when you may get lucky with timing. 4-25-23
...and by virtue of waiting a few minutes, the clouds were gone and there's a great view over Vøringsfossen!

I figured as lucky as I was to get two trains I've been wanting really bad in two afternoons had to be good luck?
I'm not sure how I feel about this one. The sky was so bland after Cult Classic so I tried out a couple different things in post to make it "pop". Chris wanted to try out some shots on the rig so we hooked his 7D up to see what we could get.

NS P87 makes the return trip to Asheville up the Southern Loops as it passes through Jarretts Tunnel. With the Evergreen Packaging Company in Canton set to close within the next 2 months at the time of this scene, P87 became a priority for me to document. I was lucky in that P87, the local that runs to the Bridgewater Chip Mill that serves Evergreen & the only guarantee move over the Southern Loops, was set to make its final run the following Thursday. Naast "Stadtbahn-lijnen" waarop lange gekoppelde tramstellen dienst doen, is er in Salt Lake City sinds december 2013 een iets lichter uitgevoerde tramlijn. Het traject van lijn S is slechts slechts 3,2 km lang. Het traject maakte ooit deel uit van een spoorlijn van de Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. De Siemens S70-trams die op dit voornamelijk enkelsporige lijntje dienst doen, zijn aangepast en wijken af van de rijtuigen op het sneltramnet. Zij hebben schortplaten op het front en geen koppelingen, er zijn meer staplaatsen en de wagens zijn in een afwijkend kleurenschema geschilderd.
Als kunstwerk liggen er nog enige spoorstaven die herinneren aan de vroegere spoorlijn.

When I decided to swing through town and see if anything was on the way? I was surprised to see a southbound signal for what I hoped was CSX F741? Sure enough not only was it 741 running LHF, but he had to switch the ATW which took about an hour. I pulled this from the video which I shorted from an hour to about 14 minutes.
NS 744 at East Old Fort (milepost S110.3) in Old Fort, NC with the N&W Heritage Engine leading and NS 4000 trailing
NS M23 for Linwood rolls through Catawba, NC with an SD60, SD70, and SD70M-2 up front. These past couple weeks have been great on the S-Line for standard cabs, and this is no exception!
The track in the foreground is the Plant Marshall lead that Catawba coal and scrubber trains take. It was also a double-ended siding at on time, but eventually cut where the tracks turn South.
An SD60, SD40-2, and GP60 lead NS P60 through Claremont, NC during a snow shower that covered most of North Carolina today.
Following along on a (fairly long) bridge over the canyon, you find yourself on its opposite side and in front of...more waterfalls!

Possible shots from this location. The other
being this one. They will both be extremely hard if not impossible to get I think? The CSX S Line shown gets four trains a day I think? Two of them are Amtrak and come at night or very early in the morning.
The other two are F741 and F742 manifest trains from Raleigh to Hamlet and Hamlet to Raleigh. I get lucky once in a while and catch them so I'd have to catch a signal well enough in advance a few miles away then make it to this spot in time...
