After days of overcast skies and frigid temperatures, our cold snap broke yesterday. It was a break of another sort to find this Snowy Owl, sitting atop a telephone pole on a sunny, blue sky day. Please click L to get a better look at her great eyes.
Some peaks of the Sundance Range reflected in one of the Vermillion Lakes on a crispy, chilly autumn morning.
Mt. Rundle, the iconic peak to the left that is one of the most photographed mountains in Canada was shrouded in clouds. Glad these peaks were out reflected nicely below.

Una grande porzione del Gruppo del Canin qui ripreso nei pressi della cima del Picco Carnizza lungo l'esposto e spettacolare itinerario dell'Alta Via Resiana che percorre le ardite e affilate creste del massiccio.
Al centro si notano diverse placche di neve/ghiaccio che un tempo andavano a costituire il Ghiacciaio del Canin in un unico grande apparato.
Nonostante il fortissimo ritiro, esse continuano a sopravvivere beneficiando dell'esposizione, dell'apporto valanghivo e delle precipitazioni che sono particolarmente abbondanti in quest'area; infatti il Massiccio del Canin è una delle zone alpine con un tasso di precipitazioni annue ben superiori ai 3500 mm.
Questo permette la sopravvivenza di questi piccoli apparati glaciali compresi a una quota di soli 2000-2300 metri...

Caerphilly Castle at night. The weather conditions were perfect for the fireworks last night and I took this shot just before they started. The stars in the sky make it look as if it's floating in space. The blue light on the left is from the street lights in the town and the orange on the right is from another fireworks display.
