Came across the UKs largest collection of ancient bones and skulls during a recent visit to the Crypt at St Leonards Church in Hythe, Kent. A fascinating collection which is believed to include bones from the fallen at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

I was realizing yesterday that the 2015 Toa have one strategic advantage over the 2015 BIONICLE villains: none of the villains appear to be able to fly. So I thought I'd even the odds. Obviously, I had to use a few placeholder parts, but I still think it conveys the general idea I was going for. Skull Ripper includes 87 pieces total, and so I imagine she would hit about the same $15 price point as the other skull villains.

Skull Ripper's torso features the same Technic function as Skull Basher's, but here it serves two very different purposes. From a standing position, it allows Skull Ripper to stab an opponent with her talons. In flight, it allows her to flap her wings.

Ideally, I'd prefer Skull Ripper to use Tr. Blue instead of Tr. Light Blue, but from a practical standpoint I found that I had a more useful range of pieces in Tr. Light Blue.

A halloween skull decoration at Galey Farms. I don't think it's quite anatomically correct, but I could be mistaken.

after last worked on this creation take some of the comments of the time, modify the legs using some new parts, and arms were simplified (they were very fragile which forced me to take this decision)

When I started cross stitching again last winter, I needed a bag to keep my thread and tools in. I used a grocery bag, but it was an imperfect solution. So, I scoured the internet for a pattern or tutorial that would solve my problem. Eventually I found something by Tilda on her website (Tildas World). She has a whole bunch of delightful patterns that are free for download. The toiletries bag pattern has instructions for 3 different sizes- these are the medium and large sizes.

I like the dimensions, but I have a few little issues with the design. My search for the perfect pattern continues. Mostly I liked the price (free! wahoo!), and that it used materials I already had. It just required fabric, thread, batting, and a zipper. I had the correct size zippers in red and black, and chose fabrics to match. The batting was an 80/20 scrap. I used spray baste to keep the layers together, traced lines at half inch intervals with a chalk pencil, then stitched the lines with cotton thread.

Aren't the fabrics fun? The black one gets linty very easily, but I love the print. Both fabrics were left over from projects (the red from a dress, and the black from a quilt backing).

A slightly abstract version. Using a different folding method. this is easier to fold than the first skull. From a square.

Chalk on black paper.

Special delivery for Klaas van den Burg.

A golden oldie. Drawn many many years ago, one of two tries to draw white on black. Disapproved back then because of the smear and stains. The chalk just didn't want what I wanted...

I know, I know, I should've fixated it, but I didn't. Maybe I have to try again some day, but I'm learning how to etch first. Because I wanted to etch so I could duplicate my drawings. Now every etching seems to be different so I still can't sell or give away my drawings ;-p

This fellow is laughing about it for all these years now ;-)
