A selection of skewers from the menu is served on a platter with house pickles and steamed coconut rice in a bamboo basket.

Low end Shimano hub from a 98 GT Palomar. Failed on drive side probably due to being ridden many miles having a little play on the bearings. Skewer was bent a little and worn thinner approx 1cm in from its drive side end. I must have ridden a fair few months with it being like this. It was strange because every now and then the back end felt floaty but every time I checked everything was fine, no play anywhere. I only discovered it was broke when I took the wheel off to fix a puncture one day and one side was wobbly and just pulled out and I thought oh that's not right, it shouldn't do that I'm supposed to unscrew a few nuts for that to happen not to mention also be in one piece lol So the whole wheel was being supported by the thin skewer alone! and would have snapped as well if it had been left much longer no doubt. Salvaged the wheel by fashioning some old solid bolt axle parts together which I'm pretty chuffed about : )

My gorgeous wife is a star. Not many people would let me stick them with acupuncture needles for a 365 photo. I'm hopeful that she will still be able to work properly after this...

Taken at Salad King. Don't be fooled by its title, this restaurant actually serves Thai food. It's located by Ryerson University, it used to be a very low-key, fast-food type restaurant, but over the years, due to its high-frequency patronage from the Univ. students, it has successfully grown. Now it is a hip-looking sit down restaurant. However, I think the quality of the food has decreased significantly.

Assorted chicken things (cartilage?), some pork wrapped thing and shiso peppers. Meh.

Angry Birds skewers (Vientiane)

Vientiane is the capital and largest city of Laos, situated on the Mekong River near the border with Thailand. Vientiane became the capital in 1563 due to fears of a Burmese invasion. Vientiane was the administrative capital during French rule and, due to economic growth in recent times, is now the economic centre of Laos.

The estimated population of the city is 754,000 (2009). The city hosted the 25th Southeast Asian Games in December 2009 celebrating the 50 years of SEA Games.

I've not enjoyed fried scorpions for more than ten years, so I'm savoring every bit of the crunchiness, well except for that sharp hook on the tail.
