Hickory spit with round point

beautiful swordfish steak purchased from a local fisherman's stand in Topsail, NC.

 

Chunks were marinated in a basic mix of lemon juice, garlic, oregano, and 7-spice mixture. Griddled on cast iron. Served over a mixed veggie and bulgar pilaf.

An artist has decorated a load of doors in San Ferdinando and the southern end of the Quartieri Spagnoli. The subject matter is varied, but the constancy of style makes this corner of Napoli feel vibrant and alive.

 

I can’t think why I was particularly drawn to this painting!

It was an interesting experiment, but I'd take my brush pens consistency and convenience any day over the savings afforded by this bamboo skewer technique.

All hand sewn except for the veins on the leaves and underneath the mushroom cap. Made from felt, stuffed with polyfil. Not for Children. Skewers poke eyes.

Pork skewers ($8.5/pair). This is a Mexican version of yakitori that’s brushed with a mole-influenced chili-chocolate glaze, and finished with sour cream and cotija cheese.

 

Although to be honest, I have a feeling these might be chicken even if the menu says pork. Whatever it might be, check with the restaurant. I was a little distracted by the fact that it had a mole-like glaze (given I'm allergic to cocoa and all).

You choose your food on the street and then its brought into the bar for you to eat with an ice cold beer.

Very good but the chilli flakes were too large - they should be finer.

one guy does nothing but stoke the coals on busy nights. all nights, each gaucho is assigned their own meat; they don't just serve you, they cook as well. here you can see some of the varieties of meat (and pineapple) you might get to eat.

It's only taken 32 years, but rosemary and I are really getting along splendidly these days. I still don't want a branch of it in a chicken stew (bleh) but with olive oil? And salt? In bread? Yum. And in this case, a small amount finely minced into a marinade, it was delicious as well.
