"Party Skewer" by Erin Curtis - acrylic on cut canvas. One of a series of three works by this artist seen at Artscape in the 2015 Sondheim Prize Finalist Gallery. This is a detail from a larger painting.
Another illustration for my Digital Media capstone project at AB Tech. I drew the food with a Pigma brush pen, with color added by watercolor paint on Bristol.
This wasn't used because I had an illustration of Thai satay and one meat on a stick drawing is enough. An ambiguous protein source on a skewer for kabob or Thai satay.

Last night we felt like something hearty so we walked to the Puente de los Suspiros in Barranco to the well know antichucheria Tio Mario. Anticuchos are much like kebobs but instead of chicken they use heart of cow marinated with aji pance, vinegar, cumin, and other spices, the result is a bloody very tasteful meat, although some people don’t’ like the fact of eating a heart it actually tastes great.
We also had something which is not for the faint hearted, raqchi which is some section of the stomach of the cow, if you look at it looks a bit grouse with some filaments hairs and it has a bit of a chewy constancy, but the taste is fantastic so, so long as you don’t look at it its great!
Tio Mario has been making anticuchos for many years but his current location is at the end of the Puente de los Suspiros just one block from the Barranco Park, if you are in this part in Lima I suggest you visit.
Be aware that anticuchos are only eaten in the afternoon, so this place is not open duiring lunch hours, the open from 5pm till around 12, the tables on the side of the bride have a great view of the Puente de los Suspiros and the Hermita de Barranco.

ready for the grill. bell peppers and peeled garlic, brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper.
the shrimp was tender, sweet yet with a good bite to it. the cucumber and maui onion salad beneath was perfect combo.
Here is everything fitted tightly together.
Unfortunately the plastic wing nuts became brittle and simply shattered. They are now increasingly difficult to find.
