My goal is to strengthen my drawing skills by sketching everyday in my brand new sketchbook. This is the first entry.
The skull was sketched from my Anatomy For Artists book and I also studied two figures from masters paintings.
Quote: "Drawing the figure is a thinking man's game. Our perceptions can sometimes be mistaken when we are looking at the model...we have to learn to ignore distractions & begin with what we know must be true." ~Frank Porcy
I'm participating in The Sketchbook Project. Here's my blank, pristine Moleskin sketchbook as it arrived. I have to fill it with art and return for a national gallery tour. My topic: Danger, Danger. Should be fun!
The completed sketchbooks will hit Atlanta, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Chicago galleries before entering the Sketchbook Project permanent collection.

Here's another of the chapter illustration series...well my two characters featured in the illustrations went to college that are historic rivals and this year had very epic basketball game leading up to the final game of the Final Four which is between Kentucky and Louisville. I had kind of a weird "Gladiator"-like motif of a wrestling mat with a cage that's a setting for an island. But still the illustration worked out.
