Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Continuing the progression to the back of the Jockey chair. Detailing added with additional weathering to come. I'm going to pause on working the back and begin moving to the torso of the creature....so the head is about to become a permanent fixture to the piece where currently its been a separate piece held in place by a metal rod. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎spacejockey‬ ‪#‎hrgiger‬ ‪#‎giger‬ ‪#‎derelict‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎sculpture‬

Starkiller's two head sculpts (standard and "rage") are original sculpts depicting the character from the concept art and not that of the actor. When I have time I will go back and sculpt an actor likeness.

The shoulder armor is a seperate piece and is attached by a clear band around the shoulder.

The body is a full sculpt using a custom made articluated frame or armature. The figure contains 14 points of articulation.

Included to hilts which are built from existing parts, can be attached to chest using clear banding. Also included are to sabers with attached beams. Lightsabers do not light up.

The arena robes are from the Darth Maleval box set and was altered/reworked then painted to give a worn look. Hood is from a VOTC Darth Sideous, altered and repainted.

Figure was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.

The Egg Morpher (Xeno) - ALIEN: Defiance (Dark Horse Comics) - 1:18 scale....Pulled from the pages of the Dark Horse Comics series Alien: Defiance and inspired by the artwork of artist Tristan Jones.

Sculpt update - Began working on the build late last week but haven't had time to post updates so what you will see here is a series of images taken along the course of several days (more like very late nights). The material I am using is Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.

I always begin with sculpting the head first. This creature is larger that the standard xeno warrior so the figure will be featuring a completely new sculpt, no recast parts from others I've made. The body will be similar to the big chap (alien 79), but slightly larger, with longer limbs and fingers. I'm staying true to the artists concepts and panel depictions of the beast within the comic....to the best of my ability. This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to sculpting comic based characters (Star Wars anyone?).

The skull will be a hard shell, similar to the warrior drone. Very similar to the spitter alien (Colonial Marines) so I'm using a reduce frame of an existing spitter head cast. The head sculpt will feature both an open and closed mouth. Waiting to find out if the beast features a traditional inner jaw or an expanding protrusion similar to the Deacon from prometheus. About a half inch longer than the warrior drone head.

Much more to come - may revisit the sculpt on those teeth and make them a tad smaller....and more of them. More to come! #alien #aliens #defiance #darkhorsecomics #aliendefiance #eggmorpher #xenomorph #sculpture #avesfixitsculpt #avesstudio #miniature

Paint progress on "The Beast:- ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. A couple quick smartphone shots. The final head sculpt has been painted for this figure - that's 7 head variants total! This time I chose to paint the dome completely opaque at the front and picking up a little texture to go along with it. Better images later so you can see the inner jaw resting inside the partially opened mouth. I have the Alien" Isolation beast to paint up, the bodies of the 79 version and several other head sculpts and bodies to complete. Will spend a few more weeks painting then it will be back to sculpting some figures and the Space Jockey along with some diorama building. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎painting‬ ‪#‎sculpting‬ ‪#‎giger‬

I have completed the sculpt to this version of Starkiller from The Force Unleashed 2 - Arena Combat Gear. Next the figure will be primed then painted. Figure is in 1:18 scale sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt - a two part epoxy. Also includes casted materials and fabric.

Painted the head of Captain Dallas wearing his EV gear!

Build progress on the Narcissus Shuttle Diorama - particularly the "Stowaway" section - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began adding the pipes that run within the cavity of the wall panel using acrylic rods. I want to make sure the alien is removable but due to the complexity of the piece, the beast can no longer be inserted through the front of the display...so I made an entrance from the back as seen in the attached image. Excited to see the alien fits snugly into the space provided without much difficulty. Work continues....#alien #narcissus #shuttle #nostromo #diorama #sith_fire30

Some sculpt work on a Star Wars related figure! Dass Jennir with Steed. Star Wars: Dark Times (Dark Horse Comics) - 1:18 scale. Work on the beast adding detail to the head, sculpting the tail (not detailed yet) and working out the balance of the figure. For Jennir I complete the covered version of the head sculpt adding a magnet to the top of the head which will hold the hat in place. ‪#‎starwars‬ ‪#‎darkhorse‬ ‪#‎longlivethetrueeu‬ ‪#‎dassjennir‬ ‪#‎darktimes‬ ‪#‎sith_fire30‬

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "Mother" chamber - Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Completed the build of the chair and have started to add paneling and detail to it. Sculpt status on the 1:18 scale Space Jockey - Alien 79. Pre-sculpt work in progress using monster clay to get a better idea of placement and proportion. A "suggested" sculpt to say the least. I was hesitant on where to start with the Space Jockey - do I start with the alien itself or the chair? Then I went back through my refference shots and found that Giger and Peter Voysey began the sculpt of the Alien first, then built the chair around it. So that's what I have begun doing. I will reduce the monster clay which will work as a frame for the final sculpt that will be made using Aves FIXIT Sculpt (Epoxy). Very excited to finally see it come into form! Gonna be big! ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎spacejockey‬ ‪#‎hrgiger‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎sculpture‬

My completed Kane head sculpt. I'm using Dallas' body to model it on but Kane will soon have his own similar look. Very pleased how this came out and am looking forward to painting him up :)

Sculpt update on the Egg Morpher - Aliens: Defiance (Dark Horse Comics) - 1:18 scale. I've been told by many fans of the species that this would be considered a Praetorian Xenomorph that has the ability to egg morph it's victims. I'm absolutely fine with that!

Closing in on completing the head sculpt of the beast. Enlarged the arc of the vertebral shell and added detail to the back and underbelly of the cranium. Still have a few more details to add before this and the jaw get a mold bath. This will be a tricky head sculpt to mold correctly. More to come! Including some new projects just getting started! #alien #aliens #defiance #xenomorph #praetorian #avesfixitsculpt #avesstudio #sculpting #nostromo #eggmorphing

The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.

Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders

and legs.

When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Sculpt progress on AVA - Ex Machina - 1/12 scale. Because I'm forever curious, I decided to do some vacuum forming tests of Ava's torso, neck and skull cap. The images you see are the results. Sculpt progress on the 1:18 scale Spraug figure as seen in the Dark Horse Comics series Star Wars: Invasion. Revisited the mid abdomen sculpt because the way I had it originally did not give continuity to the insectoid-like plates that run from the base of the neck down the back to the base of the tail. The cut off was too distinct, too wide. Now the sculpt looks more natural with the two segmented ball joints hidden but functional under the sculpt. #starwars #darkhorsecomics #invasion #spraug #sith_fire30

Build progress on the Narcissus Shuttle Diorama - particularly the "Stowaway" section - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began adding the pipes that run within the cavity of the wall panel using acrylic rods. "Some assembly required" - Build update on the second alt posed version of "The Beast" - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Okay, more like A LOT of assembly is required HA! I began assembling the semi-articulated version of the "squatting" alien yesterday. Hollowed out the upper and lower halves of the torso so the pieces, when merged, will bend with the use of a heat gun. Did the same for the upper/lower legs and ankles.

It's tricky - too hot, the resin crumbles. Not enough heat, the resin cracks under the stress. Just right, the resin folds like cloth...for just a few seconds! HA! Gotta be quick.

I was worried about the balance of the figure in this squatting position - so far, so good. It's able to stand on it's own.

Added ball joints to the shoulders and will articulate the elbows and wrists tonight. The neck contains a ball joint as well and the head has a wide range of movement.

So, progress has been made smile emoticon This series of three may be "fixed" posed pieces for the most part but I think they'll look very good when complete. More to come! ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎aliens‬ ‪#‎bigchap‬ ‪#‎actionfigure‬ ‪#‎custom‬ ‪#‎art‬ ‪#‎resin‬ ‪#‎smoothon‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬

Sculpt progress on the "Egg Morpher" Xenomorph - Alien: Defiance (Dark Horse Comics) - 1:18 scale.

Another set of images showing progression. The last image is the latest (late last night). Sculpting with Aves FIXIT.

Two things I plan to change - the ribbing just below the carapace needs to be thinned out, and the vertebral segments at the back of the head needs to have a higher arc.

The creature is unexplained..which is intriguing to me because I don't need to know a reason for it's existence. It's depiction in the comic is something out of nightmares (read the comic series, you'll understand).More to come! #alien #aliens #nostromo #darkhorsecomics #xenomorph #eggmorphing #sculpting #customactionfigure #miniature #avesstudio

Build update on the Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Sorry for the delay - been a very busy week or so away from the custom world. Began building the framework for the MU-TH-UR 6000 chamber or "Mother" as I will call if from this point on. Also working on the portal between the chamber and the corridor that connects to it. Will be breaking out the Aves Epoxy to sculpt the padding around the door frame as well as the interior of the frame. The build for the chamber itself will be a slow process - I do intend and making it LED friendly so no worries to those that are curious. My concern currently are the details that will be going into each of the panels at this scale. hope you enjoy! Added additional details including the upper torso part of the suit.

Here is the work in progress on my second version of Kane wearing his Nostromo EV suit. Same steps as I went through with Dallas - I too a casting of the Kane head I finished earlier and resculpted the soft cap gear. I will begin working on Lambert soon.

I’ve been laying eggs…Actually these are castings from the Kaiyodo Alien sets - Perfect scale to the 1:18. When I cast I will do a little of these at a time to build up a hive. Will hand paint each one - although the paint schemes Kaiyodo used were attractive, they were far from movie accurate. Will cast random ones with clear plastic to get a translucent effect when painted...

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "MOTHER" Chamber for the Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Rough images but they show the interior frame build (walls) is complete and I'm beginning to work on the ceiling. Upper body sculpt is close to completion - working on the back and additional detailing to the body straps and lightsabers. The sabers are made up from existing sabers, cut up and glued together to resemble the ones used in the trailers. I've made molds to produce casts. Once the casts are made, I will add the wrap detail using real cloth. The sabers are held to the chest by two thin, clear rubber loops...tried clips but were too big and looked obvious. The bands may be seen but can easily be ignored.
