(1878-1968) Escritor estadounidense ganador del Premio Pulitzer, escribió más de 90 libros en distintos géneros. En 1904 Sinclair pasó siete semanas trabajando de incógnito en las plantas empacadoras de carne de Chicago para escribir su novela 'The Jungle' (1906), donde expuso las condiciones de trabajo en la industria empacadora de la carne en Estados Unidos, causando una conmoción pública que contribuyó en parte a que unos meses más tarde se sancione la Ley de Inspección de Carnes y una nueva legislación sanitaria (Pure Food and Drug Act).

Sinclair se postuló en las elecciones a gobernador de California en 1934 bajo una coalición socialdemócrata con el nombre de Movimiento de California para el Fin de la Pobreza en el (EPIC, por sus siglas en Inglés), galvanizando el apoyo del Partido Demócrata, aunque fue derrotado por un margen considerable. En dichas elecciones, fue tildado por los republicanos de “comunista” . El PC, todavía en el Tercer Período, militó en su contra.

James ‘Buster’ Douglas Visits Sinclair

January 14, 2012

Former heavyweight boxing champion and Sinclair alumni, James ‘Buster’ Douglas, visited Sinclair during a basketball game on January 14, 2012. Douglas played basketball for Sinclair during the 1979-80 season when he earned the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player award.
