Came across this abandoned Sinclair oil display where a service station once stood, makes you think about how things were done back in its heyday. Gas price on the pump is 39 cents.
Located in Sandusky Michigan, built in 1928 and is still owned by the same family, closed up in the late 70’s, it still has the original Coke machine inside when Coke was 5 cents a bottle.
See my "About" page on Flickr for the link to support my efforts... just the price of a cup of coffee is appreciated. Thank you. www.flickr.com/people/jax_chile/

I had an account with Flickr starting in 2006, but somehow it got messed up and I could no longer log into it. So I have created an album on my current Flickr with some of those images. I haven't been transferring any lately, but I'm now trying to see if there are some things that are worth adding to this Flickr account. I'll be posting more as I can.
I think this truck stop was somewhere in Wyoming off I-80. It was just 10 days after 9/11. We were forced to drive back east as a result. Thanks for a look back.

Sinclair Girnigoe castle sits atop a fin of rock that runs parallel to the coast. Often confused as two castles, Sinclair and Girnigoe, were always just one, but the name changed from one to the other somewhere in the last 700 years. It has become a top destination on the NC500 route it seems, despite its thoroughly ruinous state.
Mind you it was alot worse when I was young, and in the second half of my life a footbridge has been added, and the structures stabilised with scaffolding. I might have appreciated it more when I was younger, now with the benefit of really well laid out information boards that now show what a fabulous castle it had been. As a mob of young lads we only came here because it was a fantastically dangerous place, and very much out of bounds.
Rosslyn Chapel, also known as the Collegiate Chapel of Saint Matthew, is a 15th-century Episcopal chapel located in the village of Roslin in Midlothian, Scotland. The chapel was founded by William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness with a ground-breaking ceremony in 1456. After the Scottish Reformation in 1560, it was largely abandoned but, following a visit by Queen Victoria, it was rededicated in 1862. It was the target of a bombing in 1914 during the suffragette bombing and arson campaign. The interior contains some fine carvings which many historians have sought to interpret.
Since the late 1980s, the chapel has been the subject of speculative theories concerning a connection with the Knights Templar and the Holy Grail, and Freemasonry. It was prominently featured in this role in Dan Brown's bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code (2003) and its 2006 film adaptation. Medieval historians say these accounts have no basis in fact. Rosslyn Chapel remains privately owned.

Just a short drive from Wick on the north east coast of Scotland, Castle Sinclair - Girnigoe is considered to be one of the earliest seats of the Clan Sinclair. The castle is two sets of ruins from the 15th Century Castle Girnigoe and the 17th Century Castle Sinclair. This is a sunset shot utilising a A7Rii.
Caught Aisling Sinclair resting after a lot of hard work on the Fantasy Faire Quest. Thank you for all the hard work.

This wonderful old Sinclair station is located on a side street in River Heights, Utah. It is now used as an office for a firm that buys old buildings and restores them. A young lady who works there told me about some of their restorations, including another gas station and a movie theater. Apparently this was also used as a photography studio for a while.
Thanks for the tip, Jim.
Another image from Caithness. This is Castle Sinclair Girnigoe near Wick. This is a spectacular castle situated on a long narrow peninsula projecting into Sinclair Bay and the North Sea. I went down to a flat area below the castle to capture this image. Its another place I would like to see when it is stormy. I think it would produce some spectacular images with big waves.
Not exactly a sneak, but pretty close. More like a necessary shot. Compelled, really.

A bit about the first name "Jay:" It can be a name on it's own or a nickname for James or John. It is mostly considered to be a boys name with approximately 184,424 boys having been giving the name since 1880. (Babynameshub)
I like it because it is the name of one of my favorite birds, a Western Scrub Jay, a colorful member of the Crow family.
