Former Union 76 Gasoline Station now a Sinclair Gasoline Station and Food Mart located in Long Beach on Orange and Wardlow.

Recently convered into a Sinclair Station.

I'm an admirer of Sir Clive Sinclair. I've owned three of his designs: a build-it-yourself digital watch with invisible control switches, a super-compact programmable calculator, and the world's least expensive personal computer. But I'd never heard of this one.

The C5 is a sort of powered recumbent tricycle, with a 1/3hp electric motor driving the rear wheels and a set of pedals so that you can give it an extra boost when that 1/3hp doesn't cut it (which was apparently most of the time). With a top speed of 15 mph on level ground and a profile so low that it was almost invisible (especially in its urban-camouflage offwhite color scheme), it was not the safest mode of transportation around, and the fact that the handlebars, throttle and brakes were located under your thighs did little for stability and precise control. So it was an abject failure. But you can't say it was unoriginal.

Sir Clive was a master at thinking outside the box. Every once in a while, we're reminded that there was a reason for the box.

My Sinclair C5, found it lurking in my shed! Been there for a while, time to make it work for a charity bike ride. I know it's not a bike but, it's for charity!!

Motor is shot, no chain, no battery and inner tubes and tyres are shot.

Could be an interesting ride from the Malvern Hills Hotel, round the hills to the Malvern Rugby Club. Sounds fun, almost all down hill. Just discovered the front brake is rubbish and the rear pulls you to the middle of the road!

I was inspired by another photographer here in KC to take some shots of old signs. I never realized how great sign shots can be.
