"Out of clutter, find simplicity"--Albert Einstein

I have a very busy brain. Things ping-pong around in my head constantly...except when I'm out making images. It's then that I'm able to quiet the noise of the day and truly focus on that moment without distraction.

Fortunately, I live in a place where there is so much scenic beauty that my photographer's eye can't help but be inspired to capture it. I'm beginning to learn how important it is to make daily time for this mentally quieting experience.

Almonds in its simplicity!

I awoke this past Saturday to a bright beautiful world. After the days and days of greyness, it was truly celebratory! Hoar frost covered the entire boreal forest. Because of the contrasting whites, Manitoba's naturally blue sky looked even bluer (that was not Photoshopped). I was so excited that I didn't even finish my coffee. I dressed, grabbed my camera bag and hopped in the little red truck to see what I could see. This is one of a handful of images that I took before the frost melted.

Mom made me this to wear to a friend's mom's wedding. It was in the mountains, though, so I had to wear hiking boots with it instead of girly shoes. Now, I'd be all over that, but I was mad at the time.

Fetos? Credo canhoto! Planta de carraças!

A ver vamos...

Well, jugding from the early sun rays bathing the little Penthouse this morning, I must admit this could be true.

Still, my considerations are, that we can stop and change the flow of our days at any given point, should we feel that something might have not started in the best possible way.

A w a r e n e s s is the first step.

A c c e p t a n c e the next.

Then comes i n t e n t i o n to change,

and finally r e a l i s a t i o n of our intentions by taking a c t i o n.

OK, this is a pattern for Ideal's Chrissy, etc dolls. But someone has suggested it would be good for a Sasha doll. Has anyone ever made this pattern and altered it for Sasha? Just curious.

Ironically, I'm finding it far from simple to explain this picture. In short, I find it fascinating that the simple sound "om" or "aum" (which is the symbol in this picture) has such a complex meaning; not only in general, but also for me personally. To me this photo illustrates that juxtaposition of complexity and simplicity in a way which I can't figure out how to explain properly

(Before anyone comments on this, I am aware that the symbol is missing a dot. I somehow forgot it when I was drawing it and didn't realize it was missing until the photo had already been edited)

Theme 1/31: Simplicity

During the last afternoon yesterday a weather system approached from the north turning the sky a dark purple. The setting sun in turn transformed the tall pines and the leafless trees into points of golden, flaming light.

I posted this image on my blog last night to illustrate an essay on the tight places in which I find myself -- my neighborhood being the most literal of them. It's impossible to get an unobstructed view of anything, except, of course, the cars, rolling trash bins, open garage doors, roof and lines. But, enough about that.

But, any overall photograph to capture the startling and vivid array of torches along the street would have also included a multitude of distraction. In the end, and having to work quickly, I abandoned even the idea of a single treetop, a single canopy, opting instead partial views of the trees aflame and leaning toward the source of the light.
