Simplicity 2863 (Built by Wendy)

trying a minimalist look for a change. A Sunday afternoon walk on Skinningrove beach.

I awoke this past Saturday to a bright beautiful world. After the days and days of greyness, it was truly celebratory! Hoar frost covered the entire boreal forest. Because of the contrasting whites, Manitoba's naturally blue sky looked even bluer (that was not Photoshopped). I was so excited that I didn't even finish my coffee. I dressed, grabbed my camera bag and hopped in the little red truck to see what I could see. This is one of a handful of images that I took before the frost melted.

Fetos? Credo canhoto! Planta de carraças!

A ver vamos...

Mom made me this to wear to a friend's mom's wedding. It was in the mountains, though, so I had to wear hiking boots with it instead of girly shoes. Now, I'd be all over that, but I was mad at the time.

OK, this is a pattern for Ideal's Chrissy, etc dolls. But someone has suggested it would be good for a Sasha doll. Has anyone ever made this pattern and altered it for Sasha? Just curious.

Simplicity 1612; ca. 1946; TEEN AGE BATHING SUIT AND BEACH COAT: The bra top is gathered at the sides and the center front is softly crushed with a tie. Shoulder straps cross and button in the back. There are gathers at the side of trunks in front and soft pleats at lower sides and back. An elastic is inserted at center front to achieve a shirred effect and ribbon is drawn through eyelets in the bands at sides of trunks. The beach coat, styled with soft gathers released from a forward shoulder seam, features a standing collar, side openings, bishop sleeves and patch pockets.

Ironically, I'm finding it far from simple to explain this picture. In short, I find it fascinating that the simple sound "om" or "aum" (which is the symbol in this picture) has such a complex meaning; not only in general, but also for me personally. To me this photo illustrates that juxtaposition of complexity and simplicity in a way which I can't figure out how to explain properly

(Before anyone comments on this, I am aware that the symbol is missing a dot. I somehow forgot it when I was drawing it and didn't realize it was missing until the photo had already been edited)

I have a very busy brain. Things ping-pong around in my head constantly...except when I'm out making images. It's then that I'm able to quiet the noise of the day and truly focus on that moment without distraction.

Fortunately, I live in a place where there is so much scenic beauty that my photographer's eye can't help but be inspired to capture it. I'm beginning to learn how important it is to make daily time for this mentally quieting experience.

...I see simplicity in this capture...

It is the last lesson of modern science, that the highest simplicity of structure is produced, not by few elements, but by the highest complexity.
