Snowdrops in the snow... what more can you ask for? no more snow would be a start but dont think that will happen till at least April at this rate!
Today i think the people around me needed to take a dose of simplicity.. as stress levels were a tad high with our impending office move, tempers were frayed and not a lot of smiles were on offer (me included!) although i did try to get the team to sing if your happy and you know it but alas they just thought i had flipped.
mmmm wonder if tomorrow i will actually get a drink or manage to go to the loo .. but its all fun (and the new building is blooming fantastic too)
Architectural photography needs very good stuff to have a complete control over the light and perspective.
Using my pocket size IXUS 850, I afraid to call this an architectural shot, but I just tried to do my best over composition and simplifying with an abstract idea.

Ginestre, cisti e rosmarini si alternano a macchia e a boschi di ginepri secolari. Al termine del sentiero, la splendida baia di Cala di Forno premia la lunga camminata con un paesaggio ed un mare indimenticabili.

Another simple more traditional angle from this location at the end of the run. The warm evening light illuminates Montana Rail Link 'night gas' train with SD70ACes 4406 and 4408 (both built new for the road in Apr. 2014) as they work the terminal at Pipeline in this view looking east from the private crossing at MP 29.4 on the 4th Sub just east of Thompson Falls. They have just brought a trainload of refined petroleum products 111 miles from Missoula via the 4th and 10th Subs and after swapping loads for empties here the Phillips66 facility they will start back east.
These railfan favorite gas trains are the only trains on this end of the railroad anymore that are guaranteed to run with blue power. Strictly an intra-MRL operation, these trains came into being in 1995 when a gap was created in the 40 yr old and 531 mile long Yellowstone Pipeline when the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe chose not to renew the pipeline company's lease of 21 miles of right of way across their Flathead Indian Reservation. If I were using watercolors, this is how I would want my painting to look. I wanted to capture the softness and rolling beauty of the colors and forms in the Palouse. I had no paints or brushes . . . only my camera.

Thanks to my friend kabraloka_kbl for letting me use this cool tool. The lightbulb was weld from behind so the cable wasn't visible in the photo.
I went out in the rising tide again to capture this shot. Got stuck in mud several times on the way through the low tide. I put this into black and white to give it a more dramatic look and kept it fairly dark on purpose.

I'm in the middle of watching Bourdain's Parts Unknown in the DRC, and it reminded me of my trip to Tibet. The DRC is one of two trips (with the KKH in Pakistan being the other) that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to do. When I was younger, I watched TV shows about the bush pilots and more recently followed a couple's journey traversing the country. I can only hope the situation in the world improves and I can do both; if not, I am so happy, heartbroken, and stirred to be able to travel with Bourdain tonight.
