The Simple Shrike System, otherwise known as the Triple-S kit, is a special kit for all 5.56 weapon systems on the AR-15 platform that allows it to use a machine gun-style belt. The bottom of the magazine is the box that holds all of the belted ammunition. The top of the magazine helps hold the belt in place (And pushes it out). There is also an optional brass+belt catcher that attaches to the bottom of the magazine and extends to the ejection port where it catches the ejected belt links and shell casings.
With two and a half hours to spare before the bus back to Hania, I hired an umbrella and deck chair at the pebble beach at Hora Sfakion, and used this time to recover from the long trek through Samaria Gorge.
Simply heaven.

By 1881, the Peninsular Railroad ran through this small but growing town where a depot, two churches, a post office and school once served. Turpentine, clay bricks, a cotton gin and a gristmill fueled the economic relevance of the town until 1940 when industry began to leave, causing the population to dwindle. The Post Office closed in 1966.
This simple but beautiful home is a great example of the architecture of it's day and of this area. Although I do not have specific information on this particular home, based on the style of it and the history of the town, I would estimate construction to be between 1880-1890.

My 8-year-old had a vision in her head. She wanted to be a goddess, but wasn't interested in any of the accessories -- no laurel leaves, bracelets, etc. I think she really just wanted a pretty dress!
The pattern is 05/06 #29...3rd time that pattern has been the base for her Halloween costume (1st and 2nd here). I modified the pattern this time by making it full length and changing the front bodice to a cross-over style. I used a costume satin for the lining and a sheer for the outer layer.
