I thought this would be a nice contrast with yesterday's photo of some different stairs.

I took this shot in January 2009 in Big Sur, California with my old camera. I think I'd shoot this a lot differently today.

The objective is to show that modern can be livable; to show that modern is creative; to show that modern is the perfect future.

Modern minimalist interior design is one of the architectural centerpieces of the 20th century. Spare and streamlined while still being inviting, minimalism is charming in almost any space. With less clutter to wade through and mentally process, the innate beauty of each piece of furniture or art in the home really starts to stand out.

Paper: Mango Leaf Paper, 16x16 grid, Pureland Tessellation

The grid is not very large but I am learning...I think I will use the same paper for another attempt with a larger grid (I think a 64x64 grid would be good) and maybe some sizing/mc.

Yes, I know - this is a rather easy option. I'm usually the 'do it well or not at all' type, but I must admit I don't always apply that to FDT. For one - a face-down is always at least SOME effort so I didn't mind doing a simple one every now and then, especially without a partner in crime. But, having seen the most gorgeous and/or impressive FDT's from all of you lately, I'm rather ashamed of this one, taken with my iPhone (TinType app) and very close to my home.

It was just... one of those days. I had a 5 hour meeting. Yes, you read that right. And we're still not done doing something that could, in my opinion, be done in less than half that time. When a manager starts a 5-hour session by saying "If it turns out this is not enough, we'll just plan another session", you know it won't be followed by a structured, nicely paced, productive meeting. After 1,5 hrs, I had us move rooms, because we were still in our jackets and shawls because it was so, SO cold. When we were done, it was only 2pm, so I could have gone back to the office with the rest, but I went home to work from there - more productive. Plus, I just really wanted to change into something knitted and warm. So, I opted for a hometown FDT in the churchyard, near the beautiful overhanging big tree. This shot doesn't do the tree justice. I love that tree. I think this would have been better with just my feet instead of just my head, but with it being very cold and wet outside, I had enough after three shots and shivered my way to a hot shower.

One of the keys to shooting Epic Landscape Photography is exalting the photograph's soul via golden ratio compositions, thusly wedding the photographic art to the divine proportion by which life itself was designed and exalted. The simple golden ratio PHI can exalt your art with the golden ratio harmonies in the form of golden rectangles, golden triangles, golden spirals, golden cuts, and more, all linked by the divine proportion!

Greetings flickr friends! I am working on several books on "epic photography," and I recently finished a related one titled: The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Why the Fibonacci Numbers Exalt Beauty and How to Create PHI Compositions in Art, Design, & Photography: An Artistic and Scientific Introduction to the Golden Mean . Message me on facebook for a free review copy!

www.facebook.com/goldennumberratio/

The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo!

The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.

Ansel Adams is not only my favorite photographer, but he is one of the greatest photographers and artists of all time. And just like great artists including Michelangelo, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Botticelli, and Picasso, Ansel used the golden ratio and divine proportions in his epic art.

Not so long ago I discovered golden regions in many of his famous public domain his 8x10 aspect ratio photographs. I call these golden harmony regions "regions of golden action" or "ROGA"S, as seen here:

And too, I created some videos highlighting Ansel's use of the golden harmonies. Enjoy!

Pattern: Simple Knitted Bodice from Stitch Diva

Yarn: Berroco Denim Silk in Cayenne 12 hanks plus about 1 foot of a 13th to finish binding off the neck.

I made the Medium size, and could have gone down to the small because of my yarn sub, but I like it nice and roomy. This is definitely one of those comfy sweaters to wear just about anywhere. And appropriate that it makes it's debute on Talk Like a Pirate Day. Arrr. Don't I look like a busty sea wench?

Photographed from my college premises..

I have been retired since 2010. After Covid, I dropped most of my social events like Bridge and Bunco. Life now revolves around taking pics, reading, and spending time with Hadley. Simple and good.

Day 16

Does that make these guys simpletons?

This is another simple modification and is applied to the back of the coaster. I spread out the "petals" of an earlier variation to give a more defined "Daisy" motif.

To fold the module, simply spread out the top layer in step 3 [bottom] in this photo diagram - www.flickr.com/photos/61236172@N08/10546863335/in/photost...

The 6 modules are folded from 7.5cm Korean Duo-coloured squares. Many more variations is possible. Try to make your some of your own.

There are no photo diagrams for this "variation within variation" The rest of the other variations are posted in my Flickr "Folding Instructions" set - www.flickr.com/photos/61236172@N08/sets/72157629691542210/

The photo diagrams are also posted at my new website, kindly hosted by Nick Robinson - www.nickrobinson.info/clients/owrigami/show_diagram.php?d...

Ralph Waldo Emerson. The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca: On entering a temple we assume all signs of reverence. How much more reverent then should we be before the heavenly bodies, the stars, the very nature of God!

John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.
