Simon truly represents what it means to embrace Corporate Responsibility (CR), recognising that it is something that as an employee and a citizen we should all do not because it’s nice to do but because it’s good for society and for business.
In the past number of years, Simon has worked on a number of initiatives from finding innovative ways for IBM as a business to be more environmentally efficient which also results in cost savings for the business to hosting site tours for school children to IBM’s Technology Campus or actively participating as a volunteer during Science Week.
He was part of the team who introduced a new process to IBM’s Supply Chain which resulted in a Chambers Ireland President’s Award for the Environment.
Simon is also a leading member of the IBM Technology Campus Innovation team, leading particularly on environmental issues which will create greater efficiencies and cost savings to the business.
He has just returned from South Africa where he was an IBM Corporate Service Corps (CSC) participant, working voluntarily as part of a small team on a project with a local business.
The CSC is a leadership development programme for IBM employees and only the best are selected. Being selected as an IBM Corporate Service Corps participant (over 5000 applied for 200 places) was testament to the CR work he has already done and continues to do. His volunteering with children, local communities and the way he can link CR with IBM’s business strategy has truly ‘made a difference’.
