Simon Meteor Mk 2 Light foam tender. 1990. Airport tenders differ from normal fire engines because they need to be able to reach a crashed aircraft very quickly and often over rough terrain. They have a large water capacity and foam cannons with long range. This tender was used at Edinburgh Airport. Fitted with a powerful Detroit diesel engine, it could accelerate from 0-80 kph in 24 seconds. Foam could be pumped at a rate of 450 litres/min to a range of 20-25 meters. G806 CFH.

Simon Stevin is a deepwater mining and fallpipe vessel that was delivered in early 2010. With a load capacity of 33,500t, she is considered to be the largest vessel of her kind in the world.
She is also the first purpose built fallpipe vessel. Nordnes is the second largest fallpipe vessel.

Il progetto musicale di Bobby Gillespie in concerto all'Alcatraz.
Bobby Gillespie nasce come batterista dei Jesus & The Mary Chain che nascono una trentina di anni fa. Poi decide di mettersi insieme a Andrew Innes e Robert Young e dedicarsi a un progetto tutto suo, Primal Scream. Sonic Flower Groove è il disco d'esordio, una dichiarazione d'amore al rock anni Sessanta, amore che si sentirà successivamente, anche quando sfocia nell'acid house o quando a mettere mano tra i lavori dei Primal Scream sono dj in come Andrew Weatherhall per il caso della hit Loaded.
I Primal Scream sono un gruppo musicale scozzese che nel corso della sua carriera ha esplorato diversi generi quali il rock, la musica elettronica, il dub, il jangle pop, l'acid house, il krautrock, l'hard rock, il country, il free jazz, il rock and roll, il funky, il soul e altri ancora. La band è originaria di Glasgow e si è formata nel 1982.
Caratterizzati da continui cambi stilistici sostanziali, i Primal Scream attingono buona parte della loro forza dal punk e risolvono gran parte della loro essenza in tale continuo cambiamento che tocca, considerando anche la longevità del gruppo, la stessa formazione, mutata più volte nel corso degli anni.

I met Simon at the Noosa Surf Festival Tiki Bar on the Beach.
Simon was really cool with having his photo taken, and being on Flickr. He is working part time as a Barman during the Surf Festival, and was pretty busy at the bar. He also has his own car detailing business as well as being an enthusiastic surfer. A fun character, he is a Noosa local and he was happy to pose for a second photo.
I said he was my number 2 stranger and he said he would rather be number 1. I said that number 1 was a pretty girl and he said "so it's beauty and the beast" :-)

The first photo was spontaneous with the Samsung Galaxy S. The second was with the Canon SLR.
It was difficult to choose the main shot. Technically the image from the SLR was much better, but the first photo on the Samsung was more appealing. So appeal won and the second photo is attached.
I think this may well be a feature of these impromptu portraits as it is unlikely that the first shot will be as well prepared as the second, if you have the opportunity for a second.

Connecting Home: a Service for Stolen Generations invited an ABC Open Dreambox to be part of an event to commemorate National Aboriginal and Islander Children's Day.
In their Collingwood office in Melbourne, Connecting Home unveiled a wooden plaque with Kevin Rudd's Apology transcribed onto it.
After the speeches and the unveiling of the plaque, guests and staff shared their dreams at the ABC Open Dreambox run by ABC Open Producers Jane Curtis and Marc Eiden.
