Susretu s vrhunskim sportašima na čelu s braćom Sinković, koji svojim sportskim uspjesima sustavno doprinose promociji Hrvatske vojske i Republik Hrvatske u svijetu, nazočili su i predsjednik Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora Zlatko Mateša, zamjenik državne tajnice Središnjegdržavnog ureda za šport Krešimir Šamija, posebni savjetnik ministra obrane Božo Kožul te drugi predstavnici Ministarstva obrane i Oružanih snaga RH.

Antun pl. Vakanović was a Croatian writer, translator, cultural figure, and Ban’s Deputy (Banski Namjesnik) of the nineteenth century, belonging to the lower nobility. He was active during a period of strong national and cultural awakening in Croatia. His work belongs to the broader circle of authors who, in the spirit of the Illyrian and post-Illyrian movements, sought to develop the Croatian literary language, enrich national literature, and bring European literary and cultural influences closer to Croatian readers.
Vakanović distinguished himself as a translator and popularizer of literature, particularly at a time when translation played a crucial role in the formation of national culture and the education of the reading public. His work reflects a consistent effort to establish Croatian as a fully legitimate language of literary, cultural, and public expression.
As an author, Vakanović drew on Romantic ideas as well as the moral and didactic tradition of the nineteenth century. His works often reflected the interests of the educated bourgeois audience of his time, emphasizing ethical values, national identity, and cultural progress. Although he is not among the most widely known figures in Croatian literature today, his role remains significant in the context of literary development, the transmission of ideas, and the expansion of reading culture.
In addition to his cultural activities, Vakanović was also engaged in public and political life. He served as a Ban’s Deputy, participating in the governance of Croatia as a temporary representative of the Ban within the contemporary administrative system. This position entailed administrative and executive responsibilities but did not confer the full title or permanent authority of the Ban.
Antun pl. Vakanović represents a typical example of a cultural and political intermediary of his era, whose contribution extended beyond literary production to the strengthening of language, readership, cultural awareness, and public administration.

Antun pl. Vakanović war ein kroatischer Schriftsteller, Übersetzer, Kulturträger und banskischer Statthalter (Banski Namjesnik) des 19. Jahrhunderts, der dem niederen Adel angehörte. Er wirkte in einer Zeit intensiven nationalen und kulturellen Erwachens in Kroatien. Sein Schaffen ist dem weiteren Kreis jener Autoren zuzuordnen, die im Geist der illyrischen und postillyrischen Bewegung die kroatische Literatursprache entwickelten, die nationale Literatur bereicherten und europäische kulturelle Einflüsse vermittelten.
Besonders hervorzuheben ist seine Tätigkeit als Übersetzer und Vermittler von Literatur, zu einer Zeit, in der Übersetzungen eine zentrale Rolle beim Aufbau einer nationalen Kultur spielten. Sein Werk zeigt das Bestreben, die kroatische Sprache als vollwertiges Mittel literarischen, kulturellen und öffentlichen Ausdrucks zu etablieren.
Literarisch orientierte sich Vakanović an romantischen Ideen sowie an der moralisch-didaktischen Tradition des 19. Jahrhunderts. Seine Werke spiegeln häufig die Interessen des gebildeten Bürgertums wider und betonen ethische Werte, nationale Identität und kulturellen Fortschritt. Auch wenn er heute weniger bekannt ist, bleibt sein Beitrag zur Entwicklung der kroatischen Literatur- und Lesekultur bedeutsam.
Neben seiner kulturellen Tätigkeit war Vakanović auch politisch aktiv. Er bekleidete das Amt eines banskischen Statthalters, womit er als zeitweiliger Stellvertreter des kroatischen Bans an der Verwaltung des Landes beteiligt war. Diese Funktion war administrativer Natur und verlieh weder den vollen Titel noch die dauerhafte Autorität eines Bans.
Antun pl. Vakanović steht exemplarisch für einen kulturellen und politischen Mittler seiner Zeit, dessen Wirken über das literarische Schaffen hinausging und zur Stärkung von Sprache, Öffentlichkeit und Verwaltung beitrug.

Antun pl. Vakanović fut un écrivain, traducteur, acteur culturel et représentant du ban (Banski Namjesnik) croate du XIXᵉ siècle, issu de la petite noblesse. Il exerça son activité durant une période de fort éveil national et culturel en Croatie. Son œuvre s’inscrit dans le cercle élargi des auteurs qui, dans l’esprit du mouvement illyrien et post-illyrien, cherchèrent à développer la langue littéraire croate, à enrichir la littérature nationale et à transmettre les influences culturelles européennes.
Vakanović se distingua comme traducteur et diffuseur de la littérature, à une époque où la traduction jouait un rôle essentiel dans la construction de la culture nationale et dans la formation du lectorat. Son travail témoigne d’un effort constant pour affirmer le croate comme langue légitime de l’expression littéraire, culturelle et publique.
Sur le plan littéraire, il s’inspira des idées romantiques ainsi que de la tradition morale et didactique du XIXᵉ siècle. Ses écrits reflètent souvent les intérêts du public bourgeois et instruit de son temps, mettant l’accent sur les valeurs éthiques, l’identité nationale et le progrès culturel. Bien qu’il ne figure pas parmi les auteurs les plus connus aujourd’hui, son rôle demeure important dans l’histoire culturelle croate.
Parallèlement à son activité culturelle, Vakanović joua également un rôle politique et administratif. Il exerça la fonction de représentant du ban, participant à l’administration de la Croatie en tant que suppléant temporaire du ban, dans le cadre du système politique de l’époque. Cette charge impliquait des responsabilités administratives, sans toutefois lui conférer le titre complet ni l’autorité permanente du ban.
Antun pl. Vakanović représente ainsi un exemple typique de médiateur culturel et politique de son époque, dont l’apport dépasse la création littéraire pour inclure le renforcement de la langue, du lectorat, de la conscience culturelle et de l’administration publique.

Njegovo stvaralaštvo pripada širem krugu autora koji su, u duhu ilirskog i postilirskog pokreta, nastojali razvijati hrvatski književni jezik, obogatiti domaću književnost te približiti europske književne i kulturne utjecaje hrvatskoj publici.
Vakanović se isticao kao prevoditelj i popularizator književnosti, osobito u vremenu kada je prijevod imao važnu ulogu u izgradnji nacionalne kulture i obrazovanju čitateljstva. Njegov rad pokazuje nastojanje da se hrvatski jezik potvrdi kao punopravno sredstvo književnog, kulturnog i javnog izražavanja.
Kao autor, Vakanović se oslanjao na romantičarske ideje, ali i na moralno-didaktičku tradiciju 19. stoljeća. Njegova djela često odražavaju interese tadašnje građanske i obrazovane publike, s naglaskom na etičke vrijednosti, nacionalni identitet i kulturni napredak. Iako danas nije među najpoznatijim imenima hrvatske književnosti, njegova je uloga značajna u kontekstu razvoja književne infrastrukture, prijenosa ideja i širenja književne kulture.
Uz kulturno djelovanje, Vakanović je imao i javno-političku ulogu. Obnašao je dužnost banskog namjesnika, čime je sudjelovao u upravljanju Hrvatskom kao privremeni zastupnik bana, u okviru tadašnjeg upravno-političkog sustava. Ta je funkcija podrazumijevala administrativne i upravne ovlasti, ali nije nosila puni naslov ni trajni legitimitet hrvatskoga bana.
Antun pl. Vakanović predstavlja tipičan primjer kulturnog i političkog posrednika svoga doba – osobe čiji je doprinos vidljiv ne samo u književnim tekstovima, nego i u radu na jačanju jezika, čitateljske publike, kulturne samosvijesti i javne uprave.

I left parts of myself everywhere* transforms the gallery into a moving image environment. The interconnected installations speak to the experience of dislocation and fractured relationship to body, language, and place. They trace the deep yet precarious connections that emerge between human and nonhuman bodies and ecosystems; connections that are constantly both found and severed. The exhibition maps an experiential space that is both permeated with vitality and haunted by personal and ecological loss.
Eeva Siivonen’s experimental moving image practice engages with strategies of documentary, essay, and found footage film practices. She employs these strategies to construct affective and immersive moving image installations and single-channel works. Her practice describes subjective experience in ways that resist separation between self and other, interior and exterior, human and nonhuman, and living and nonliving. The ethos of her practice is to create space for empathy by embracing the impossibility of gaining knowledge of ourselves and others, and our place in the world.
Eeva Siivonen is originally from Helsinki, Finland. She has received MFA degrees in Video Art from Syracuse University and Documentary Film from Aalto University in Helsinki. She exhibits her work internationally at film festivals and gallery exhibitions. Most recently, her work has been screened at San Francisco Cinematheque’s Crossroads festival, DOBRA International Festival of Experimental Cinema in Rio de Janeiro, and Transient Visions Festival of Moving Image in Johnson City, NY. She has also received multiple international residency fellowships and recently spent two months in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains as an artist-in-residence at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, New Mexico.
*The exhibition title is borrowed from the poem “St. Thomas Aquinas” by Serbian American poet Charles Simic.

Dejan Stojanovic was born in Pec, Kosovo (the former Yugoslavia), in 1959. Although a lawyer by education, he has never practiced law and instead became a journalist, working as a correspondent in the early nineties. He is a poet, essayist, philosopher, and businessman and published six critically acclaimed books of poetry in Serbia: Circling, The Sun Watches Itself, The Sign and Its Children, The Shape, The Creator, and Dance of Time.
In 1986, as a young writer, he was recognized among 200 writers at the Bor (former Yugoslavia) Literary Festival. He also received the prestigious Rastko Petrovic Award from the Society of Serbian Writers for his book of interviews with major European and American artists and intellectuals.
In addition to poetry and prose, he has worked as a journalist for the Serbian weekly magazine "Pogledi" (Views). His book of interviews from 1990 to1992 in Europe and America, entitled Conversations, included interviews with several major American writers, including Nobel Laureate Saul Bellow, Charles Simic, and Steve Tesic.
He has been living in Chicago since 1990.
Charles Lloyd is joined by both Charles Simic and Margaret Lawrence as they discuss topics of jazz and poetry.

An ordinary observer might think this picture shows motile sperm cells caught in a web as they seek their romantic endeavor. And indeed, it is an endeavor, but instead made by neurons and not so romantic, but rather rational, programmed and strictly organized. The brain is uninhabited but sporadically visited by neurons whose trajectories go from the outer cosmos to deep inner niches on their way, colliding with different cells creating a synapse: an unparalleled communication channel. The Cosmic Synapse shows the journey that neurons take conveying concepts that make us who we really are… consciousness, thoughts, emotion… “on the road” to their neuronal call.
This image represents neurons projecting from the cortex to deep thalamic regions, imaged for the expression of a neuronal protein, Thp1, expressed throughout the neuronal body, axons and dendrites (green). It also shows staining of the vascular bed (magenta) next to the neurons projecting towards deeper brain structures.

The Old Temple of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Kozluk. In addition to the new temple there is an old temple from 1904. Due to the lack of the Khodzak parish chronicle, there are no reliable data on the temple itself. Most of the information about this temple is based on the statements of the older parishioners. The temple was built by the advocacy of the priest "Peter Lazarevic" on the project documentation prepared by Dr. Jovo Simic. The temple was consecrated by the metropolitan Zvornik-Tuzla's Georgi Zivkovic in 1904. The temple was generally renovated in 2014. On July 27, the same year the bishop Zvornik-Tuzla gospel reconstructed the renovated temple with the act of trembling. Chrysostom. On that occasion, the godfathers of the temple were Jovan and Spomenka Ciger and Milorad Stevanovic.
Козлучка парохија
Стари храм Светих апостола Петра и Павла у Козлуку. Поред новог храма налази се и стари храм из 1904. године. Усљед недостатка Љетописа козлучке парохије нема поузданих података о самом храму. Већина података о овом храму заснива се на казивањима старијих парохијана. Храм је подигнут залагањем свештеномученика Петра Лазаревића према пројектној документацији коју је израдио др Јово Симић. Храм је освештао митрополит зворничко-тузлански Георгије Живковић 1904. године. Храм је генерално обновљен 2014. године. Обновљени храм чином троносања освештао је 27. јула исте године епископ зворничко-тузлански г. Хризостом. Том приликом кумови храма били су Јован и Споменка Цигер и Милорад Стевановић.

At first sight the living labyrinth is absurdly chaotic, but details of this magnificent network show how well structured it is, with elaborate details that give a profound meaning of the purposeful path. It represents a beautiful web of blood vessels that traverse the brain bringing all 4 elements: fire (energy), air (oxygen), earth (food) and water. It has no end nor beginning, leading to the center of the universe, our brain, and then back to the outer world, our body. It is complex, but not static: it breaths, palpates, feels and leads, and opposed the ancient one that served to hold Minotaur, this one paves the way of life: the Living Labyrinth.
The image shows vasculature in the mouse brain after staining with a dye that binds to glycoproteins including those in ABO blood groups. Thus, we can visualize blood networks in organs with physiological features intact. This enables the study of processes implicated in circulation, trafficking and drug delivery across tissues.
This was accepted for the People category in the International exhibition of art photography MOMENT 2013 (run by photo club Kozjak from Macedonia): kozjak50.com/photomoment/rules.pdf
The organizing committee counted 3686 photos from 356 authors from 66 countries.The judges Slobodan Simic (Serbia), Hulki Muradi (Turkey) and Mariya Andrichuk (Ukraine), decided to accept 404 photographs in section MOVEMENT, 490 photographs in section PEOPLE and 416 photographs in section NATURE.
