This is taken from above the garden shed (formerly the birdroom). Looking West down the Northern fence line, above the creek.
Taken a couple of summers ago, this is my favorite flower picture. There are two types of purple vetch that grow in our sideyard/gully - crown vetch and this kind who's name escapes me.
One summer my dad decided to mow down the entire sideyard (full of wildflowers, which I love) and I cried. Regardless, everything was back the next summer in what seemed like double quantities. Sweet revenge.

Prior to putting in the fence between our yard and the neighbor's, the side of our garage was just a lost space. But now that we do have a fence? It's a whole new expanse of yard for us to work with! And a mulch path down the middle of the alley. And we already have the mulch -- the giant heap of woodchips at the back of the yard that's all that's left of the black locust tree that got struck by lightning.

Hoed the bed and added compost, worm castings, and then planted. Some are still growing in paper cups...to be transplanted later.
