The Color(ed) Theory project, which was presented at the first Chicago Architectural Biennial in 2015, was created by architect Amanda Williams, who teaches at IIT. For that project, Williams painted eight houses slated for demolition in the Englewood neighborhood with vivid colors inspired by Chicago’s South Side. NOTE: On Sept. 7, 2017, a demolition permit was issued for the building.
Today was weird. Things like this just don't happen!
The groom didn't show up for the third and final pre-marital meeting. Only the bride. The realtor threw an open house for us, and no one came. No one! I was thrown out of a public library (it closed) and a pizzeria (I wasn't ordering).
On the bright side, I got my truck back, on the thirteenth day it was in the transmission shop. And, while the realtor was sitting in our house, alone, we got to visit this cool park.

Lower Cement Bed. It was around here I started noticing the Belemnites protruding from the clay/soft rock.
Several years ago I thought up this concept for a FriendSHIP sub-theme.
Imagine little sets like the Friends bedroom sets, representing different spaceship cabins (medbay, greenhouse, airlock, bunk room, conference room, etc.) that can each click onto the sides of a central corridor. You can attach whichever ones you have in any order, or make your own.
At one end of the main corridor is the bridge (a somewhat larger set, though still with a crazily low parts count in this draft).
At the other end of the corridor there would be an engineering section and then engines, but I never built the back half. At this point I never will.
This MOC has just been taking up space and collecting dust for years, and I've never felt particularly inspired to finish it. The model itself is not that great, and the concept is well illustrated by the parts I already built. So I'm finally taking photos and then breaking it down for parts. Enjoy!

My first experiement with papercutting in the Schrenschnitte style. I took a pretty picture from Martha Stewart Living and a used a classic Dutch pattern.
I'm pretty proud of the stitching on this one! I added the white to keep the piping from rolling, as it's a bit thick.
I made two small modifications to this pattern- I added piping in the princess seams to allow them to stand out and give it some more definition, and I bias bound the hem because I couldn't get it to lay flat within the seam allowances once I added the piping. This pattern is a dream to sew- I have finished all three of the ones I've made in around six hours, even this one with the piping.
