Photos taken on Jan 11, 2009 of a former Shell Gasoline Station. This station has gone through a series of owners and changes. About 5 years ago, it was cleaned up to its current appearance, looking more like how it originally appeared when it operated as a Shell Station. Located at Vermont and Venice Blvd. in Los Angeles California.

Shell Centre London
Built: 1961

Often derided as one of London's ugliest buildings, but I like it.
Set for redevelopment although the tower will stay. A great video of the building and its facilities (including a swimming pool - is that still there?) on youtube here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zUQD1p9bXY
The Shell Project - Originally started as an exercise to test some of the features of my new Casio point and shoot camera but turned into an extended study of a single abalone shell. The series shows the results of photographing that shell at different focusing modes and lighting conditions.
Shells found on the beach in Orcas Islands. The seagulls pick it up and drop them on rocks for them to crack open, so they could eat them.
A beach made up entirely from queenie, scallop shells, stone & sand. The majoroty is from shells. These shells are not from dead creatures from the ocean but are the by-product of the Citys shell fish processing factorys. If you ever wondered where all the shells go when you eating a queenie or scallop well now you know. They are washed up from the back of Peel hill.

A piece of shell that had 3 unusual holed, one including a small shell. To take the picture I lined a box with black cloth and put the piece on a mirror. I like the pop that the mirror provides.
Discovered in 1835, Margate's Shell Grotto is an astonishing find; 21 metres of winding passages decorated with 4.6 million shells. The walls are covered in images of gods and goddesses, trees of life and patterns of whelks, mussels and oysters. Some think it is an ancient Pagan grotto, others that it is simply an ornate Regency folly; but with no definitive explanation or history, the Shell Grotto is Kent's greatest mystery.

A broken shell and fine large "rock" river pebble found while digging my yard. Both are common in SW Florida.
