Donavan Frankenreiter performing in Shell Beach on Father's Day....

Yes, that beach is entirely comprised of shells.

Don't ask me how!

Shells on Shell Beach, Peron Peninsula, West Australia

I took a little road trip to Shell Beach which is appx 25 miles

south east of New Orleans proper. A hard hit fishing community.

There is a Hurricane Katrina memorial at the end of Yscloskey Hwy....

both on shore and in the water. It's also an area where fishermen take

their boats out to the giant Lake Borgne, it is along the Mississippi River

-Gulf Outlet (MRGO) which is an inlet the leads to the Gulf Of Mexico.

A small cave in the rocks.

Shell Beach, California

Just inside one of the caves this morning at Shell Beach.

Not a bad place to take a picture by Dinosaur caves park.

Shell Beach, Australia 2005

Shell Beach / Central Coast / Calif

I've shot this composition so many times but I believe this is the best to date. I love these rocks in the foreground, such beautiful colors and shapes, the tides drift in and out and the sun begins her descent into the pacific horizon.

Shell Beach was one of the main reasons we decided to head up

SWMBO being a lover of those marine discards

Miles and miles of tiny Cardiid cockle shells, the same as in

And deep too, more than 5m deep and you still hit cockles

Looks as though some sort of machinery tried

Creating trenches, undulating waves of cockle shells

Not sure what it is with large quantities of small objects

That regresses you in age, and you sit, making piles and piles

Running your fingers deep within, lifting

Letting them sift through

Must be the years growing up watching Scrooge McDuck

Dive into his pool of gold coins

I don't think my brother will mind much

His face is hidden by the cap...

On our family NYDH to Shell beach

This beach is located a couple miles south of Puerto Morelos. There were only one or two other people around, and the reef has broken up so the waves crash onto the beach more. Pay no attention to my narration.....I babble...lol

Tide pooling in the heavy fog at Shell Beach, Sonoma Coast State Park.

This gives an idea of the size of the shells and how far the beach stretches.

More shells at Shell Beach, Tarbert.

Surfers walk past a big-rig truck on the beach at the base of Silver Shoals Drive in Shell Beach after the truck coasted down the street and plummeted off the cliff. Nobody was hurt in the wreck, which is still being investigated.

The high salt concentration in the bay has resulted in the huge numbers of Bi Valve Cardiid Cockles. Millions and millions of these shells make up this beach.
