NOV 2011 ~ The Beach Cannon (with attendants)
I wondered if a bunch of testosterone flushed young men set this up? Then decided the log was much too heavy, the sand too malleable...to manage. It must the ocean's handiwork, a compelling sculptural contribution....a cannon pointed perfectly out to sea.
mid-SEPT 2010 ~ Whale Watching at Dusk
Decided to explore the sandstone cliffs north of the whale watching point. This is looking southwest at the folks on the cliffs joined by a boat off shore....they were waving to each other & the whales.
On my way south to pick up some things for work, I made a stop in Shell Beach just as the sun was setting. By the time that I got my gear out, the sun had set but the colors were still there. I went to a park on the edge of a bluff where I had photographed before. I had seen these palm trees and knee that I wanted to make a silhouette image of them. Tonight was the night for that image.
Just experimenting with different techniques. Trying to find a style that I can call my own, but could not decide what I liked better. Every time I visit them I like a different one better.
This picture of Shell Beach, CA, was taken on 1/10/10. I'm standing on the edge of Pismo Beach looking north up the coast. Just beyond that first hill is San Luis Obispo. Beautiful area!
Mmmm, a bottle of wine, some brie, a little salmon, avocados, basil, tomatoes, red bell peppers, a little lavash, an ocean view, a beautiful evening. We should live every day like it's our partner's B-day.
I took a little road trip to Shell Beach which is appx 25 miles
south east of New Orleans proper. A hard hit fishing community.
There is a Hurricane Katrina memorial at the end of Yscloskey Hwy....
both on shore and in the water. It's also an area where fishermen take
their boats out to the giant Lake Borgne, it is along the Mississippi River
-Gulf Outlet (MRGO) which is an inlet the leads to the Gulf Of Mexico.
