Charly was our first dog. She was Husky mixed with Golden Retriever (Goberian). We will miss you girl.
Today I tried my 1.4x extender on my 100-400 mm lens. I'm not too happy with the results. What I gained in focal length I lost in sharpness. But this shot pleased me because of the colors more than anything else. Female House Sparrow, Shell Beach, California.
Shells by the million.

Billions of tiny white 'coquina bivalve' sea shells form Shell Beach. The coquina bivalve shellfish has no predator in this locality due to the very high salinity in this bay which predators have been unable to adapt to. The shell fish have existed in huge numbers for thousands of years, then died natural deaths then been washed ashore. Shell Beach is covered for a 60km-long stretch to a depth of some seven to ten metres. Shell Beach is one of only two shell beaches like it in the world.

I took a little road trip to Shell Beach which is appx 25 miles
south east of New Orleans proper. A hard hit fishing community.
There is a Hurricane Katrina memorial at the end of Yscloskey Hwy....
both on shore and in the water. It's also an area where fishermen take
their boats out to the giant Lake Borgne, it is along the Mississippi River
-Gulf Outlet (MRGO) which is an inlet the leads to the Gulf Of Mexico.

This two dimensional metal sculpture sits outside on their lovely patio and adds a little bit of artsy-ness to the space. I'm seriously in love with it.
There is not really a place to build a nest on the rocks, but who knows. I have never seen any chicks there either. Got my new camera. Just started shooting without really setting it up so the date is wrong. No CS3 update yet, so jpgs only. Today I will get with it. Initial impression is excellent. Bigger viewfinder, faster focus, full frame. It is about the same size as the D300.
