These two gulls acted as mates, they were searching for a nesting spot, walking together and bobbing heads. Then one found a tasty treat and brought it up. They seemed to be sharing amicably until the sharer attacked the other. It's as if suddenly the urge to be greedy overcame the urge to share with a mate. I don't believe this was a mating behavior, the one that was attacked was driven off the cliff!
Been sitting on this image for awhile now, passing it up with other entries for no particular reason.
Taken in Shell Beach, Calif. The ghostly shape in the picture is yours truely but when I was taking the picture I was thinking of a great friend I once had whose favorite place to go was close to here. I imagine a part of him drifts on the coastal breeze forever a part of the beautiful coast.

We hung around for quite a while trying to see through the fog. There were brief periods where we could almost see out there then it got better... then fogged in again. But during that period, the whole crew was visible.
Next photo was after another wait and might be a little clearer.

June 16, 2012 - "As The Pendulum Swings" Day 13 - Humbug Mountain State Park to Bullard's Beach State Park in Bandon, Oregon.
It was nice an cool below the ground away from the sun. The scramble out is easier than the climb down. There are plenty of spot where the sun streams in like a skylight in the house.

The hike takes you to some cool areas. The rocks llok like someone just piled them on top of each other.

Situated on the staircase edges of the tide pools in Shell Beach while the hard shore rushes over my feet. A beautiful, calm evening accept for the many mosquitoes biting my face, arms and legs... :)
