Join us as we target Shell on Google Maps, turning Shell stations into ‘hell stations’ to publicly highlight the damage Shell is doing in the Niger Delta.

We can’t do this without you, so please get involved by taking photos that obscure the S from view, and adding them to our Google map - and Flickr! Read full instructions

I fell madly in love with this shell curtain!

This one was on the veranda of the shell shop at Pawleys Island but they were also inside on the front window.

Mmmm...seaside living!

Random shell fragments on white.

This is a conbination of two versions of a single photo to make one.

The base layer is the optimized RGB photo,

then a duplicate converted to black and white was placed on top.

Lastly, the opacity of that top layer was adjusted to what you see now.

There are two white shell pieces that have been pushed right to the edge of higlight clipping

on the right side, but both on my monitor and in the print they are in zone 10.

No texture, but the edges can be seen.

This sand is made of millions of shells!

My spatial design project designing a shelter based on an organic shape. I chose a shell and decided to photograph it in-depth. I made a wire frame and covered it in mod rock to form my shell like structure.

In Florida Gulf Coast communities, the sight of sea shells being used as hardstanding is commonplace. Up in the Panhandle, old oyster shells fulfil that role. Unfortunately, for the moment, there will be no fresh supplies of oysters that had been harvested for many generations in Apalachicola Bay. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission imposed a five-year ban on wild oyster harvesting in an effort to restore conditions and rebuild stocks. This ban will remain in effect until the end of 2025.

Several factors had led to a precipitous decline in Apalachicola oyster stocks, include demands on the Apalachicola River’s water supplies made by the neighbouring state of Georgia. As the primary Floridian supplier, Apalachicola oysters were notably fleshy and sweet. Oysters remain on the menu in the town and elsewhere in Florida, but they are now sourced from Louisiana and around Galveston TX.

I keep seashells on my window sill. I liked the shells texture so I took a photo of it on my hand.

Part 1 of 2 - I don't typically upload in parts anymore. This time is because on Tuesday the 6th, my area was hit by nasty storms and tornadoes and I don't have internet, so uploading more than 40 pictures on a hotspot is next to impossible. So within a week or two, the second batch will be published with all the pictures from Waldameer!

Please contact me via FlickrMail, or on Gmail if you'd like to use any of my photographs.
