The original Shell Centre comprised the tower building and three now demolished adjoining nine storey wings (collectively formerly known as the "Upstream Building"). The original development also included a separate building known as the "Downstream Building", which was separated from the Upstream Building by the railway viaduct between Charing Cross and Waterloo East.
The Downstream Building was disposed of by Shell in the 1990s, and is now a block of residential apartments known as the White House, and has been heightened by a storey.

And hey, I am back in business on www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=9515 again selling a few sets of my most popular prints after a looooong hiatus during pregnancy and the birth of my wonderful daughter.
Now that I have an assistant, I may actually have time to keep up with those kinds of orders in addition to selling through my web site and to corporate collectors.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone! It's Mother's Day on Sunday, so remember your Mama!

Often derided as one of London's ugliest buildings, but I like it.
Set for redevelopment although the tower will stay. A great video of the building and its facilities (including a swimming pool - is that still there?) on youtube here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zUQD1p9bXY
The Shell Project - Originally started as an exercise to test some of the features of my new Casio point and shoot camera but turned into an extended study of a single abalone shell. The series shows the results of photographing that shell at different focusing modes and lighting conditions.

A beach made up entirely from queenie, scallop shells, stone & sand. The majoroty is from shells. These shells are not from dead creatures from the ocean but are the by-product of the Citys shell fish processing factorys. If you ever wondered where all the shells go when you eating a queenie or scallop well now you know. They are washed up from the back of Peel hill.

Discovered in 1835, Margate's Shell Grotto is an astonishing find; 21 metres of winding passages decorated with 4.6 million shells. The walls are covered in images of gods and goddesses, trees of life and patterns of whelks, mussels and oysters. Some think it is an ancient Pagan grotto, others that it is simply an ornate Regency folly; but with no definitive explanation or history, the Shell Grotto is Kent's greatest mystery.
The Cicada shell, In the final nymphal instar, they construct an exit tunnel to the surface and emerge. They then molt (shed their skins), on a nearby plant for the last time and emerge as adults. The abandoned skins remain, still clinging to the bark of trees. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cicada_molting_animated-2.gif
