Shell

10896 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews, VA

Rainy day, so played with my wife shells collections :)

Rameswaram is known for its best quality sea shells, conch and other sea products.

I don't normally take photos of toilets but this is an exception, a shell toilet seat lid at a shell garage.

Altolamprologus Compressiceps sp. shell or Sumbu? Based on colors/shape i'm guessing Compressiceps sp. shell.

Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is in the Upper Geyser Basin at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano (northwestern Wyoming, USA).

Shell Spring is a frequently erupting geyser in the Sapphire Group of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. It is located about 30 meters west of Jewel Geyser. Bulbous lobes of geyserite surround Shell Spring’s vent, with pustulose to nodulose geyserite along the periphery. Eruptions involve low to moderately low splashing. When water levels are low, a small side vent on the southwestern side of the main vent engages in chugging/rhythmic sputtering. The name “Shell Spring” is in reference to its resemblance to the folds and sulci of the interior surface of an articulated tridacnid bivalve shell (e.g., Tridacna gigas).

Bullet shells from World War 2 sitting on top of the tank they were shot from. The round stampings showed they were made in 1940.

All the goodness has been taken from this crab leaving just the shell. Macro Mondays theme "Shell".

While on Holiday with the family in Shell Island we watched an amazing sunset... who needs photo editing when they're captured just like this!

Scallop shells on a pier jutting into Moriches Bay, on Long Island. Scallops are the official shell of New York State, apparently.

We found this mussel, which is still living in its - unfortunately damaged - shell, at the Sieg weir near Siegburg, close to the flotsam washed to the shore. I wonder if it can survive with this damage.

Diese noch in ihrer - leider beschädigten - Behausung lebende Muschel haben wir am Siegwehr bei Siegburg im Bereich des angespülten Strandguts entdeckt. Ob sie mit diesem Schaden überleben kann?

Some of these shells remind me of astrophotographs of Saturn.

This historic Shell gas station looks like it belongs on Old Route 66, but actually it is located on Sprague Street in Winston Salem, North Carolina

I attempted at a bit of "Natural History" feel in this collage. Left top box contains not only shells but some vertibrae of sea mammal - I don't know what. Maybe dolphins, maybe sharks. Right hand top corner is a crab shell, completely washed out and clean. I love the white.

Turtle shells galore.
