I was blown away by Shell Eco-marathon

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Shell Creek flows through this narrow canyon downstream of the falls.

Out on a two-lane highway along the Ohio River in Southern Indiana USA, next to a perfect recreation of Smilin' Bob Ryan's used car lot there's a Shell service station from the late 1950's or so.

Why is it here? Who owns and maintains this? I couldn't find out much and left a card for the owner who hasn't contacted me yet...

Often visually compared to the Sydney Opera House, the Baha'i Temple is one of the most iconic pieces of modern architecture in South Asia. The Baha'i Temple is made up of twenty-seven white, marble petals, in the shape of an unfolding lotus flower, spawning from nine pools, and nine walkways. The theme of nine symbolises the nine unifying paths of the Baha'i Faith.

What it took:

Manual mode. Natural sunlight. Some post processing, cropping. I used some of my favorite shells, on my favorite piece of driftwood. Extreme opposites ... well maybe not extreme, but rough and spiky vs smooth and round.

Mackenzie took the picture of me in my shirt.woot! shirt of a greedy hermit crab collecting shells.

Wore this shirt to the beach to collect hermit crabs, and came back sunburned.

A lovely weekend could not be wasted and I ended up at Shellness, doing a spot of metal detecting too - found a pound coin (am not going to be rich at this rate!)

I took an alternative route home tonight, On the way, I was drawn to the bright lights and colour of the new Shell Station. Me stopping there must have looked a bit odd, as I was on my bike.

Sea shells on display at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. It is hard to convey the size of these, but these sea shells were HUGE!

We have been collecting these for years with the help of MimiCapeCod. The shells are from all over - Cape Cod to Florida, the Caymans & Mexico to Bermuda.

Okay, this photo was totally random! Accidently pressed my shutter when my camera was coming down. However, I think it's an incredibly dope shot.

I picked these shells up from the beach on Koh Samui in the summer - I always bring home tokens from in the form of rocks, pebbles or shells. They are scattered around the house on window-sills and table tops bringing memories of past good times.

I set the shutter speed at 2 seconds with a narrow aperture so that the image would show the colours and textures of the shells clearly.

I found these shells out on the shore during low-tide.

Its really hard to find an actual shell that's still attached to its other half!
