For ABCs and 123s group when we need an 8. OK, done! Now, we are looking for a nine.
Sharp-shinned Hawk perches on top of the bush while the sparrows huddle in its depths chattering nervously.

Scavenging for scraps. The juvenile "Sharpie" just watched as the Swainson hawk ate a water snake. It had attempted to steal the snake but was unsuccessful and abandoned the effort given that the Swainson's Hawk was twice its size.
A Sharp-shinned Hawk flew into my backyard this evening in the rain. Fortunately, there were no birds at my feeders.

I think this is the entire Sharpies color collection. Staples always have these mail-in-rebates to get Sharpies for free. Thank you Staples :)
I noticed it was quiet at the bird feeder and also that a junco was stock-still in the fir tree on our deck.
Methought, "There must be a hawk."
And there was: this sharp-shinned hawk, his head turning back and forth as he searched for a bird to take. He waited for over 45 minutes in a tree, attentive to everything, including me. Then he finally gave up the wait.
Five minutes after he was gone, the littler birds were out feeding again.
someone asked me while i was working on this, if there was any meaning/ story associated with this piece.
originally, i had a demonslayer in mind.
so that explains the horns on the character at the bottom of the cup.
then later on, i thought of a poem known as "Quatrain of Seven Steps" (七步诗) that i had to recite back when i was a student in singapore. 本(běn)是(shì)同(tóng)根(gēn)生(shēng), was a line in that poem, and it means "originating from the same root".
i thought it would be awesome to depict brothers who chose different paths in life, the righteous versus the corrupt, and their bloody battle in the end. BUT now i have to deal with making up a story for these freaking horns i just drew because they cant be brothers if one of them has horns."
i guess the story is, sometimes i dont have a story for all my works. i just like to draw.

We were sitting quietly after a couple of hours of working in the garden, relaxing on the deck with the cat who was just staring at some juncos in the bushes underneath the deck. There were also some pine siskins eating at the feeder two metres over the cat's head.
Suddenly, this sharp-shinned hawk flashed through our company, grabbing a siskin on the way. It was so fast the cat didn't notice anything. The hawk settled in at the corner of our garden, about ten metres away, in some thick bushes. There are no leaves on the bushes yet, so I could see him and took a dozen or so pictures. Eventually he got fed up with my presence and left, though I expect he came back a few minutes later for his bit of siskin tartare.
Here is a skate board that myself and the incredibly talented folks I work with at C3 sharpied on for our creative director.
