Experimented with Sharpie on some spare blue legs. Worth some further experiments?

I’m [was] pretty sure this is a young Sharp-shinned rather than Cooper's Hawk. Please correct me if I'm wrong, Internet. Anyway, late this afternoon, this majestic bird chased after the lone White-Breasted Nuthatch that frequents my backyard feeding station. I hope all worked out well for the nuthatch in this instance because I've grown quite fond of him and his habits. [Now I'm somewhat confident it was a Cooper's. This bird seemed quite small, and at first I thought the streaking on the chest was more extensive and deeper than normal for a Cooper's, but since then I've seen examples of unmistakable Cooper's with similar markings.]

This isn't a tattoo! I drew this on my hand with a sharpie fine tip.

Sharpies are my favorite!

um well plastics do.

I just like my make up.

Not even the tiniest bit of justice done to the subject.

After a hard night of wind and cold rain, Sharpie makes her appearance at the back door.

"Excuse me, sir. Sorry for interrupting your breakfast.

You wouldn't happen to have any little birdies you wouldn't be needing? Fine little birdies. Heh."

Sharpie (Malcolm) is born and bred in Hastings and is a regular visitor to the Pier. He belongs to a group called the Hastings Old Gits Network which was primarily set up to support the purchase of Hastings Pier by its current owner. A group who didn't want the purchase to go ahead called the group who did "the Hastings Old Gits Network" as an insult. They embraced the name and it now has its own Facebook page and members meet regularly on the pier.

Sharpie is usually found sitting outside the cigar shop in George Street and, not surprisingly, has been asked to have his photograph taken on many occasions.

He was on the pier with Kevin and Jan whose pictures will follow.

Sharpie is part of my project to photograph 100 strangers www.flicker.com/groups/100strangers/

This is also another submission to the Human Family Group - for more photographs see: www.flicker.com/groups/thehumanfamily/

Sharp-shinned Hawk

Sharp-shinned hawk, female, is hanging around here in all kinds of places today. I keep seeing her perched here and there, was finally able to pull myself away from work and get this shot. And then I artsed it up a little........procrastinating taxes!

after the feast

i am reminded of the comedian who said our kids must think we’re all in the witness protection program because they have never seen our faces.

I've recently discovered the joys of Sharpie on Lego.

Thor - The helmet is from a Chinese brand, the Ant-man legs line up really well with the torso, and the arms are hand-drawn.

Falcon - I thought the basic Falcon minifig was okay, just lacking in detail on the arms and legs.

Hawkeye - Not exactly movie accurate, but I like the t-shirted look from the Matt Fraction comic.

Iron Man - Upgraded with armour from a Chinese brand minifig, chopped down and painted/Sharpied up. I still want to add some detail to the arms.

A Sharp-shinned hawk, drops by our yard on occasion to check on all it's little brothers and sisters to make sure they are paying attention!

The Olympus Four-Thirds DSLRs have had a bit of retro-popularity lately, mostly due to the cachet of the Kodak CCD sensors. The Evolt E-500 is not as unique as the E-300 and lacks the IBIS of the E-510, but it's a fun camera to play with. And, for what it's worth, it shares the same Kodak sensor.

These were taken using a Super-Takumar 55mm f2.0 lens.
