Sharp-lobed Hepatica (Hepatica acutiloba, sometimes listed as Anemone acutiloba or Anemone nobilis). I was surprised at how white these flowers are. Closer to home I usually see the other local species of hepatica (Round-lobed Hepatica), which typically has a purple tint to the flowers, among other differences. In the early 20th Century Frank Malpas Sharp left the Isle of Man to work as an Engineer in Western Canada. He was to marry out there and have two children, before returning to the UK in the late 1920s. In this picture he is the man in centre, near the door - other persons unknown

This while not being Sharp's first transistor radio is a gorgeous coat pocket radio using Sony transistors. The color is an eggshell blue and looks great on this radio with the hour glass grill and unique tuning pattern all adding to it's style.

Sharp-shinned Hawks become very docile once they have fed. During these times, the birds can be closely approached and easily photographed. Listen for irritated chickadees and nuthatches for clue about where to find sleepy Sharpies with full bellies
They are beautiful birds and I will never forget my experience with this one today.
There was no shortage of tulip varieties to behold at the world famous Butchart Gardens in Victoria BC. This one reminds me a bit of a venus fly trap.
Can anyone definitively ID this bird? Coopers Hawk, Sharp Shinned Hawk? No matter what species he/she is, what an absolutely intimidating face they have!

Quintron & Miss Pussycat, John Wesley Coleman, and Sharp Balloons played the Hi Tone Cafe in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 2, 2012. There were lots of beers and nude asses.
Was more than a bit surprised when this bird landed in my backyard. I was fortunate enough to have my camera sitting close by and was able to capture a shot or two before he/she flew off.
