Six Days Seven Nights, New Beetle - Day 4: Saguaro National Park West, Tucson Mountain District

We made a nice loop hike up the Hugh Norris trail, down the Esperanza Trail,and back around via Dobe Wash and Bajada Wash.

That arctic weather that's covering the eastern and central US now? It was chilling New Mexico while we were in Arizona. We were glad to be there!

Sharp-shinned Hawk, juvenile, soaring by ml's pictures

Note squared outer corner to tail. Less rufous color to the streaks (when compared to a Cooper's Hawk) on this young bird. Some Sharp-shins can show slightly rounded tails with white terminal edge. This bird shows some wrist bend and a T-shape rather than a Cross shape, which would give it a longer looking tail.
