Not only sharp but each spike has an invisible hook on the end so that when it 'gets' you it is like trying to pull a fish hook from your flesh!! Very nasty.
Sharp Edge - Blencathra.
The view looking back from the slabs at the base of Foule Crag, across to the 'Bad Step' and the Gendarme.
Two people are seen crossing this fine ridge in lovely Summer weather.
The Backgroung fell is Souther Fell, with the A66 viewed wending its way East, back to Penrith.
Usually, there is almost a 'conga-line' of folk traversing the ridge. I was certainly lucky this day, as there seemed only to be a handfull of people on the ridge.
This is one of my favourite images comitted to slide film.
The original image was taken on a Ricoh KR-10M SLR, using Fujichrome 200 ASA slide film.
The slide was given 4 scans at 7200dpi, and post processed using Adobe Photoshop.
This was very close to our motor-home when we returned from getting some groceries. I hurried into the motorhome and grabbed my camera but wished I had spent more time checking my settings before shooting. I'm hoping that it is in fact a Sharp-shinned Hawk.

Had my bloods done this morning in preparation for tomorrow's kimo. Why do nurses always say 'ready for a sharp scratch?' It's not a sharp scratch, it's a bloody needle that goes into your arm and hurts!
Sharp Rock Vineyards in Sperryville, VA - played a beautiful wedding with Just Wanna Play yesterday, perfect day in the mountains...

I chose F/5 for foreground sharpness AND because I wanted a background that is still recognizable, instead of a soft bokeh cloud - Don´t worry, others in this series have an absolute bokeh excess :)
Had to go up with my ISO (->200).

A friend ask me to come out looking for Hawks and he took me to a place that had a family of Sharp Shinned Hawks. This is Dad preparing the meal for the little hawks.
I thought this was a Coopers Hawk. After studying more of it, I think it is a Sharp-shinned. I took this from about 70 feet away as it is a heavy crop.

Another little 'Flatiron' in my collection of wedge-shaped, sharp corner buildings from around the world.
An office near Nokia head quarters, Espoo. Reaching out to sky one sunny winter day.
[There were some spots from camera defect on the sky - thanks for spotting them 8) - I removed them so the markings on the sky should not show anything strange anymore. In case somebody wonders what they should find there.. Perhaps there is a way to remove the markings? Somewhere? )

The great thing about the beach is that it presents an entirely different universe from season to season, from day to day, from hour to hour, from second to second, with the ever changing wind, tides, clouds, and sun. A split second with tumbling surf and a sinking sun can make a vast different, resulting in entirely different photographs.
