PITTSBURGH, Pa - Residents from the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home (PSSH) in Erie, the Southwestern Veterans’ Center in Pittsburgh and the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home in Hollidaysburg participated in the annual Sharing and Caring Boat Ride on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The event included a catered lunch and entertainment during a mid-day cruise on the Gateway Clipper exploring the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers. PSSH Commandant Barb Raymond served as this year’s honorary Captain which included the laying of a ceremonial wreath and a salute from the Pittsburgh Fire Department.
Sharing & Caring, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of hospitalized veterans. Calder and Bronte` sharing an i-pod while doing the dishes, they make a good dish crew.When we first moved in and were adjusting to life without a dishwasher I overheard Calder say as they were laughing and carrying on" we wouldn't be having this much fun if we had a dishwasher!"
I saw this at Walmart. Now I know why the Walmart associates can't ever help me. They need help to wash their hands. Here are the instructions. Put warm water on your hands, put soap on your hands, scrub your hands for 20 seconds, rinse your hands, and finally dry your hands.

Specialist Mike Bowen, a combat engineer with the 368th Engineer Battalion out of Londonderry, N.H. shares a story with fellow Soldiers during the 94th Military Police Company's training exercise at the New Hampshire National Guard Training Center in Strafford N.H Saturday, April 20th. Bowen was one of several volunteers who came to the training center to assist the 94th with its training by playing an opposing force, or OPFOR, character.

Ahmed is a friend of mine with a serious problem. His disease is getting worst day by day and now he is significantly impaired also in simple movement like walking. Last year he has done both plain films than MRI evaluation to assess the stage of his coxarthrosis and his disease is so advanced that surgery is mandatory, as soon as possible. After several months of research we found a young researcher at Sapienza that introduced us to an outstanding surgeon with a great experience in hip surgery. Finally Ahmed found a solution for his problem but now he needs a lot of money for the surgery. He has to be treated in a private clinic because his condition is really serious and this is a one-shot surgery. In public hospital the type of prosthesis used is tailored for elderly people, but he is young and “normal” prosthesis are not good enough. Moreover he can be treated only one time because of post-surgery changes, bone shortage (due to his dwarfism) and other medical problems to technical to be discussed here, and so there is no chance for a re-intervention if something goes wrong or to replace the prosthesis in a second time when the prosthesis itself will need a replacement. He is a smart guy, kind, and involved in social activities as well as in media and learning activities. I cannot describe him in just few words, but I know him from a while and he is really a great guy and he deserves this chance to live a normal life. Each year, DDB Canada's offices showcases their culture of creativity by hosting Share DDB, a unique fundraising event where staff members contribute items to the silent auction. Items range from photography, paintings and handmade jewelry to rock-climbing lessons, sailing adventures, catered gourmet dinners and more. Anything that can be imagined (and made) can be submitted for staff, their significant others, clients, suppliers and invited guests to bid on.
The proceeds are split between two deserving charities selected by staff. Share DDB 2012 in Vancouver raised $18,100 for two very deserving charities, the James Lee Foundation and Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.
