Our Daily Challenge - November 28, 2013 - "Compassion"
… by putting together Gift Cookie Bags of those Cookies for the local Animal Shelter for all those pets still awaiting their forever homes.
Ok… ok… these PARTICULAR bundles, while filled with real Cookies, will be staying at home. But I did just make my yearly donation to the local animal shelter, which will enable them to purchase many, many big bags of Cookies for their pets-to-be.
I've been donating half the price of our first golden Beau (all our goldens have come from the same reputable breeder of show goldens) every year to this shelter, for the past 10 years, and I must say there are few things I do that make me feel better inside. :)
The donation started as a happy compromise between my heart, as I'd adopted many wonderful cats from shelters over the years, and our love of the looks/temperament of this line of goldens.

Each year, DDB Canada's offices showcases their culture of creativity by hosting Share DDB, a unique fundraising event where staff members contribute items to the silent auction. Items range from photography, paintings and handmade jewellery to rock-climbing lessons, sailing adventures, catered gourmet dinners and more. Anything that can be imagined (and made) can be submitted for staff, their significant others, clients, suppliers and invited guests to bid on.
The proceeds are split between two deserving charities selected by staff. Share DDB 2013 in Vancouver raised $25,000 for two very deserving charities, the James Lee Foundation and Music Heals.
MASSA CRÍTICA FEBRER - MASSA CARNAVAL
La Massa crítica vol reivindicar per unes hores i un cop al mes, que els carrers podrien ser més oberts per a tothom, més pacífics, i demostra que hi ha gent que per perdre 2 minuts, 3 minuts, 5 minuts, es pot tornar boja i perdre els nervis, digne d'estudi.
La MASSA CRÍTICA és un esdeveniment que es realitza cada mes a diferents ciutats del món. És una sortida mensual en bici per reclamar els drets del ciclista i promoure un model de ciutat sostenible. Tambè oberta a rollers, skaters i qualsevol altra forma de desplaçar-se que comparteixi aquesta idea.
No és una manifestació ni una organització, només persones, homes o dones, joves o gent gran anat en bicicleta. Tampoc és una cursa. És una manera d’establir un espai públic on les persones puguin reunir-se, i coneixe’s.
És reclamar aquell espai a la calçada que el cotxe ha usurpat en aquests anys.

La MASA CRÍTICA es un evento que tiene lugar todos los meses en numerosas ciudades del mundo. Es una salida mensual en bici para reclamar los derechos del ciclista y promover un modelo de ciudad sostenible. También abierta a skaters, rollers o cualquier otra forma de moverse que comparta esta idea.
No es una manifestación ni una organización, sólo personas, hombres o mujeres, jóvenes o personas mayores montando en bicicleta. Tampoco es una carrera. Es una manera de establecer un espacio público donde la gente pueda juntarse, reunirse y conocerse.
Es reclamar ese espacio en la calzada que el coche ha usurpado en estos años.

Marvelling at the unusual amount of sunlight in Woodend this afternoon, a friend and I went for a walk along the Hanging Rock Shared Trail so I could find something interesting to photograph.
According to a plaque in front of this:
"This dam was built in 1938 by the Nichols Family of "Aspro" fame who owned Shirley Park. The dam was situated on their property providing water to their home and stock. It did not have Council approval and the 6 foot wall was recorded to be without an outlet in the base, thus the dam wall stopped the flow of water until the dam was full. The dam was built in a drought period and caused the Council some concern. The dam now has a control outlet at the base."
