The flower of the bee orchid produces a scent like a female bee, and its shape has also evolved to attract male bees. The bees attempt to mate with the flower and in doing so transfer pollen between plants. However, in England it is thought that bee orchids only reproduce asexually, and that the species of bee that the flower evolved to attract is not found here.

Brockhoff Cheese Shapes (better than Cheddar Shapes, but no more -alas). Scan of slide in my collection. For the record, Laurie didn't like them.

This mud has dried in a moderately angular pattern, somewhere between the sharp angles in the photo above and the softer shapes formed by drying mud in the photos below.

Like clay, mud is made out of particles that literally float in a matrix of water molecules. When the water starts to escape, water molecules, which are attached to one another through cohesion, begin to follow up toward the surface. Masses of water will escape where a few molecules went before, and this, in addition to properties of the mud particles, provides the distinctive patterns of drying we see here.

I went to a geocaching event in Northwestern Ohio called Midwest Geobash last weekend. One of the geocaches that we went to find was located at this site. This is (what is left) of the log home of pioneer Jacob Young. It is in pretty sad shape, but still standing. I'm pretty sure the OSB is holding it together. It's a shame the shape it is in, but like I said... it is still standing.

New design. Based on Eric Gjerde's true p6 tiling but with a whole load of rearranging on the layers. Not the most interesting when it's not backlit. Unfortunately it's got a LOT of layers in some places so it took quite a bit of ironing to get it as flat as this! It a bit tedious to fold because the majority or what you're doing is just re-arranging layers but it's not the end of the world. My favourite thing about this is if you look at the hexagons on the back and backlight it and it reveals all this triangles out of no where!

So, I never understood how to use the Pen Tool in Photoshop...until I decided to make vector art out of one of my photos. Some 90 layers later, this is the result... I don't think it's too bad for my first time! I used the tutorial in Issue Fifty-Two of Photoshop Creative.
