at the plaza mayor in palma, light spills like gossip down the corridor. a woman on the wall whispers beauty into the void, eternally posed. below her, a man passes - not stopping, not blinking, as if he knows her voice means nothing to him. shadow arches climb the wall like time. every step he takes belongs to the street, not the spectacle.

I picked up this doll today at a local market for £3. I was drawn to the fact that she looked manic and might just come alive when nobody is looking. I intend to use her image in a digital artwork.
Fooled ya! This was actually taken in nearby Antelope Canyon on the Navajo Reservation. It's a red sandstone slot canyon where you can generally touch both sides as you walk along the bottom. This is looking straight up about 100 feet towards the surface just after mid-day.
We're back home again after 15 days, 9 states, 4,107 miles, and 1,483 photo's. It was great to explore the Southwest, but It's also nice to be back home again.
Sometimes the light in jazz venues can defeat a photographer, sometimes it presents opportunities to sculp compositions...

Taking an average image and turning it into an above average image. Now that these cameras have 40 megapixels, cropping is much easier to do, without having the whole image fall apart.

I promised a while ago that I would photograph these pieces. They weren't expensive, but I can't remember where I found them. There are more examples to the series, but I've not found them. This has turned out to be one of my favourite images.

Near the confluence of the South Saskatchewan and Red Deer rivers southwest of Leader, Saskatchewan near the border with Alberta. Quite a contrast between this and my next post. The two locations are less than two hours apart by car.
