Beautiful Common Wood Nymph hiding-out in meadow grasses during the heat of the day.

Considered uncommon though seemingly abundant, this year.

I really like this shot, not that it is particularly stunning, but there are two things that set it apart... the swans in the background , and the fact that I have managed to get both shadows, and reflections of the boats in the one shot... as if i actually meant it!!..

Dark Lake / El Dorado County, California

Near the south shoreline of Dark Lake I noticed a pair of darners floating in the water, seemingly attached as in tandem. I used a slender branch to rake them to shore and in the next 4 images you can see them propped on a boulder, both the dorsal pose with wings stretched out and the side profile. I will be posting these 5 profiles in Western Odonata on Facebook for feedback on the ID of this pair of darners. My gut feeling tells me that they are Paddle-tailed Darners.

My shadow is cast along the creek on a late afternoon this January . I photograph the creek almost daily and today it’s frozen over me !!

A parked car across the street casts a reflection of the sun through my window which has a potted plant growing next to it. I am unable to account for the cause of the horizontal lines as there is nothing but nine small panes through which the reflection is shining.

wENT tO a cOASTAL aND gET sOME LONG eXPOSURE. uNEXPECTEDLY, I wAS sURPRISED wHAT I sAW tHERE wERE cOUPLES oF fLOATING bAMBOO hOUSE aLONG tHE bORDER nEAR tHE sEA. sUDDENLY, 3 LITTLE kiDS aPPROACHED mE wHILE pREPARING mY cAMERA aND oTHER sTUFF. I aSK tHEM tO tAKE a rIDE wITH mE aND sHOW mE aROUND tHEIR pLACE. bEFORE I LEFT i gAVE tHEM moNEY. I cAN'T iMAGINE hOW hARD LIFE iS.. I dECIDED tO dEDICATE tHIS pHOTO aND nAME iT tO " SHADOW OF HOPE " I wISH aND I hOPE tHERE'S aLWAYS mORE bLESSING aND gOOD fUTURE fOR tHEM..
