We installed two rolls of bamboo shade between our shipping containers
this morning. This was left over from our shade structure. It went up
in less than 30 minutes even with some gusty winds.
This shade house was originally built by my friend's grandfather. They used this when they were herding sheep in the high country. The shade houses will be covered with fresh branches when in use.
In my bedroom, I have very sheer curtains which I handpainted with roses(shut your faces, I have to give some background!).
For the first time EVER in the 18 months we have been here, I was looking at my wall and the morning sun hit the crystal exactly right.
I almost galloped down the hall to get my camera!
I couldn't make my mind up which ones I liked so I've made a collage.
What intrigued me is that with the correct angle, even a shadow can look three dimensional.
What I especially liked is that because the curtains are sheer, the shadow of the roses came through on the wall and it was like a layering of shadows.
No flash, minimal cropping and I only intensified the contrast a little so I got more play on the shadows
I darkened this one a tad because I felt the print was a little light coming back from the lab.

Talked to my sister about naming him A.N.D.R.E.W (Alastair Noll Darnell Riel Emery Worcester) and she laughed really hard. We both like the name Alastair. It reminds us of this old program that used to play... "Master Piece Theatre" was it? Oh, I don't remember. It's fitting for Shade. We're going to officailly give everyone their names when our custom Aquel is done.

Shade back in action! Doesn't he look heroic? These shots were for the new pic-fic. I'm hoping to use a few of them for my future Pullip diorama.
Like everywhere else I guess, we also had an unusually long and rainy winter (relatively speaking). But spring is upon us and sun is shining nice and bright. Its already in 80s F (20s C) in Tucson. And it won't be long when its in 3 digits.
I was working at home, and had to get out and take a picture. This is just outside the house in the private road, the driveway to the left is to our house.
No wonder this street is called Shade Tree Lane, quite unusual for southwest desert.
