Window Shade large umbrella shades the window some what, just some odd contrast, found in North Carolina.
Saw this lady find shade in an ancient olive tree stump. Summer came early here and during the heat of the day they try and find shade where ever they can. This area was full of alive ancient olive trees. A local told me they are more that a 1000-1500 years old. This tree came to its end but is still giving shade!

A hardy species, winter pansies will flower for the majority of the winter season and into spring even when planted in late October or November. Though they prefer sun, pansies also grow well in partial shade meaning that even in these darker months they will yield a display. (Featured snippet from the web)

For this week's Macro Mondays challenge I went with my sunglasses and sun hat. In order to get the star burst I set the appeture all the way down which meat I needed to set he camera on a tripod so I could use my cable shutter release. The image is right at the 3" limit
After Pavel's (just) critique of the first version, here is a the woodland shady spot processed from a completely fresh start on the RAW file. A darker image but more in keeping with my memory of the scene.
She landed on the favorite Merlin perch to expel a pellet and proceeded to expel large juicy pellets and of course, those images were out of focus. Well, maybe fortunately since it was kind of drooly and gross. It was overcast and she was in the shade making it really weird lighting. BUT I was very happy to see her yesterday!
