Handling Specialty works with the entertainment industry in set design. Here we have a 20,000 lbs. capacity custom tilt System for stage effect.

Handling Specialty was called upon to supply the tilting actuation system for the "Pride Rock" raked stage effect for both the Toronto, Ontario production and the travelling production of this popular musical. Each system is comprised of two cam style actuators and one HPU that is situated up to 150 feet away from the actuators. The footprint for each actuator is 34" wide x 120" long x 11" high. Rated for 20,000 lbs. capacity, the system lifts both the stage flooring and performers. (The system supplied for the travelling show is rated at 13,000 lbs. capacity.)

Performance considerations played an important role in the design of this unit. In terms of noise, the actuator system was selected to meet the requirements of 75 to 80 maximum decibels at three feet from the unit. A comprehensive test plan was also developed to simulate performance conditions prior to shipment.

Other features include over-sized base plates to help distribute the loading over a larger area of the supporting substructure and quick disconnect fittings for an interface-ready installation.

Learn more about Georg Burwick at www.georgburwick.com. In this episode Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) considers her options when her brother visits with his new wife and asks her to carry their child. Phoebe visits her mother (Terrie Garr) to ask her advice. Phoebe's Mother is a ceramicist combining her two favorite interests ceramic and erotica, "erotiery!". Ceramicist Karen Sullivan and I where commissioned by Warner Brothers to produce as much "erotiery" in 72 hours as we could and install it on set to make it look "authentic". Good TImes!
