One of several small paper models located behind the stalls of the Royal Opera House. With that castle in the background I'm guessing Parsifal.

Another large Italian 6 day tour. Eventful to say the least.

“Only your friendly neighborhood Packard dealer can put YOU behind the wheel of the fabulous, Caribbean.

With a powerful, all new V-8 engine and advanced torsion bar suspension, you will be ready for summer cruising on the network of highways President Eisenhower is building across the nation.

See your Packard dealer today and experience the excitement, during our Caribbean Holiday sales extravaganza!”

Packard certainly went out on a high note with the 55 and 56 Caribbeans.

There's no forced perspective hocus-pocus happening here! This is a photograph of 1/24 scale die-cast model cars in a 1/24 scale custom built 1930's car dealership. But, there is actually a full 1:1 scale element included in the photo. Any guesses?

Lovely stage design for G&S's The Sorcerer, at Wilton's Music Hall. Charles Court Opera Co. Set by Lucy Fowler.

I wanted dreadlocks for as long as I can remember but I never got around to it.. then I lost my hair from chemotherapy last year but it's growing back thicker & faster than ever.

I have almost 6 inches of natural dark curly hair right now - I'm wearing a dread wig in this self-portrait from an indoor tent set I built in January 2020, and I've been wearing another dark dreadlock wig I made from a normal wig, but I'm thinking it might soon be time to properly weave some in.

I try to regularly reinvent myself & experiment with identity through creative expression. I think for many, the fear of being ridiculed or judged for not dressing or looking a certain way stops them from expressing who they are or who they want to be, which is quite tragic considering we only have a certain number of years on this planet to make an impact and live with as much freedom and self-acceptance as possible.

But 34, (as I now am) or 74, it is never too late to reinvent yourself physically or mentally, or your values, just make sure you do so for yourself and no-one else.

It feels a little bit like autumn so I have been in my garden & away from social media the past few days, cleaning and tidying down my bell tent & ripping out overgrown blackberry brambles, and still managing to fit in workouts. I'm struggling to get my arms above my head like this right now because I think I've pulled every muscle I have, but feel so good for finally being able to get outside and not get blown / washed away in back-to-back storms & floods.

Verona Arena, built in the first century, is still in use today and hosts concerts, musical events and opera performances.

In these days the set design materials of Verdi's "Il Trovatore" are temporarily deposited in Piazza Bra, in front of Arena.

"The Oval Portrait" is based on the Shortstory by Edgar Allan Poe. Everything was handmade by me from the bed and books that stock the shelves to that lovely weathered floor. By creating it in miniature form it enabled me to bring my ideas to realisation, a very fun project indeed.

I love how detailed these sets are done. They should be considering Universal Studio movies are some of the best out there. The hours upon hours of preparation needed to build these sets must be grueling and painstaking.

This kind of job would be at the top of my list if I was loads younger.

This last week has been absolutely insane building my studio set design. Was a huge team effort and wouldn't of been possible without this incredibly talented bunch:

How I lit this: the lamps play a huge part (I tried to keep the lamps as the main source because it's important content to the narrative). The lighting on myself, however, needed to be a little more to get detail of my expression and catch light in my eyes--I used an Einstein E640 speed light by Paul C. Buff + a Photek softlighter from B&H, which was placed to the right of the radiator (where the image cuts off) slightly above me, pointing downward.

This aerial view of the set design is really neat. I like how it allows you to see all the potential entrances and exits. Aesthetically, the aerial view of the set is as visually appealing as the front view. I dig it!

This is the original version of the Grand but I decided to go with the B&W version first as I wasn’t sure about the colour. The hotel is in need of some renovation and I’ve pushed the vibrancy just to make it look half decent.

The shot reminds me of the film – “The Budapest Grand Hotel” by Wes Anderson. If you’ve never seen it and enjoy something unusual, then it’s worth checking out just for the set designs, framing and cinematography although it is quirky. I doubt you will have seen anything like it before!

To grow so comfortable in your space that you don't notice the decay around you; to be so unwilling to move that you grow into your dormancy.

This idea for moss was one of the first I had for the series, but on our setup day I realized the moss wouldn't stay on the wall long enough to set up ahead of time. On the shooting day, we didn't have more than 15 minutes allotted to any given shoot, so I didn't have time to tape the moss to the wall. The in-studio audience, my new forever friends, went to work taping moss to the wall and in no time my imagination came to life thanks to their capable hands.

Being rendered immobile by slow-creeping, quiet, delicate nature has to be one of my favorite things - my imagination just goes wild for it. There is so much eerie beauty in the conflict between softness and destruction.

I was over the moon happy and excited to take this picture...not really because of the picture itself, but because of how I got to shoot it. I was in a ballroom in a hotel teaching at After Dark Education - a class on set design. I brought in dirt and sticks and leaves and a bed and cobweb and got to build the whole thing right there, with tons of new friends helping. One light above the subject, and the eerie tone was set. It was a thrilling progression to see it begin as just some dirt on the ground in the middle of a hotel and then move on to a more elaborate scene. Set design is quickly becoming one of my favorite subjects to teach!
