This is so not the photo I envisioned when I set out today. But I have an excuse. I hurt my back this week, and as a result have spent several days lying flat on my back. I attempted a 'shoe' themed shoot earlier in the week with even worse results (it's actually so bad it is kind of funny, I used it as Pyper 52 week photo because I couldn't bother to do another on for her. www.flickr.com/photos/55135762@N02/8666463174/in/photostr... ) BUT, today we awoke to SNOW, and I had this idea for a shot with Lucy and flip-flops in the snow lamenting the return of winter. Unfortunately, not being able to stand for very long, and Lucy having no idea what I wanted her to do (it was like I was suddenly speaking a different language), and her getting more and more confused the more I tried THIS is what I got. Not great, the shoes are cut off, and the focus is on her nose her eyes, but, at least I made the deadline. I hope things are better next week. Shooting is really difficult when you can only stand dead straight, not bend or kneel or move in any direction.
St Mary, Burgate, Suffolk
Detail of the WWI memorial at Burgate. It is a shrine, a chapel of remembrance to those named on the memorial in the porch. It is the work of the Reverend Appleyard, who came here in 1919, and who was largely responsible for the Anglo-catholic makeover that this place received, and from which it has never really recovered.
What makes it remarkable is that all the candlesticks and furnishings are made out of shell-cases, supposedly by soldiers in a field hospital in Flanders where Appleyard was chaplain. He built the altar itself, which is set in the entrance to a former chapel. If you look just behind it to the east, you'll see his helmet. Another remarkable feature of the altar is that, as well as naming the local lads who were slaughtered in northern France, it also carries the names of the two medieval Lord de Burgates. And, as if that was not enough, St Edmund, King and Martyr. I suppose that they all died in battle of a kind.

I'll use today's date for this photo, although it was a photo I took January 7th of this year. I decided to create an epic sunset out of my old photos and here is what I got out of it. I really encourage listening to Blackmill, a deep melodic dubstep, while you view because it sure encouraged me to do this and it's also awesome music!

For Vaughan and Andrie's wedding we set up a photobooth so guest could essentially take their own pictures. Being a same sex wedding, we set the theme as YMCA, or anything outlandish. My wife bought props, starting with YMCA character hats, but we also added anything else that was bright and fun, including a couple of gay flags.
We set up a camera in our home studio. The reception for 90 odd guests was held in our garden. We provided a black ground to make the colours pop, set up two elinchrom lights, and set the camera on a 10 sec time delay with a remote button. Not all guest took advantage and the kids , including mine, kinda took over.
But we love the results
