This is a photograph from the 34th ABN AMRO Marathon Rotterdam which was held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on Sunday 13th April 2014 at 10:30 (CET). This photograph is one of a larger set of photographs which were taken at the start, the 17 mile mark, and the finish of the marathon. You can download the photographic image here direct to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. However - look for a symbol with three dots 'ooo' or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
How can I get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Loved this musical so much. The 5TH Avenue Theatre added a few more trap doors for the staging and the ability to lift everything from outhouses to mountains from directly beneath the stage deck which allows for even more movement from the wings and down the flys. The results were spectacular.
Shrek the Musical played their world premiere here in Seattle, working out all the kinks and then showing the final product to fans over the last couple of months. The show closes on the 21st of September and heads directly to Broadway. It is not to be missed if you are in the Times Square area. When we visited Broadway for the first time this spring, we went to see Rent, since they were closing soon. However, what I really missed from that experience I enjoyed last night...a huge moving stage, incredible settings and full use of all of the theatre magic that Broadway should hold.
The music was incredible, I will be getting the soundtrack ASAP. The scene with Fiona growing up and counting the days of her solitude was beautiful and haunting and hilarious all at once. The song between Shrek and Fiona that talks about whose bad experiences 'beat' the others was truly inspired. Kecia Lewis-Evans as the Dragon - wow!

Jose Franco’s craft village, Sobreiro. An unusual and slightly surreal place – basically it’s a miniature working village. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
This used to be part of an old CBeebies set, but seems to have been joined by the old Match of the Day sofa and table, and a big set of teeth.
Cliveden
(aka Cliveden House)
There have been three houses on the site.
The first house, built in 1666, burned down in 1795. The second house, built in 1824, burned down in 1849. The present house, built in 1851, by the architect Charles Barry for the 2nd Duke of Sutherland.
Cliveden has been the home to a Prince of Wales, two Dukes, an Earl, and finally the Viscounts Astor. As the home of Nancy Astor, wife of the 2nd Viscount Astor, Cliveden was the meeting place of the Cliveden Set of the 1920s and 1930s—a group of political intellectuals.
Later, during the early 1960s, when it was the home of the 3rd Viscount Astor, it became the setting for key events of the notorious Profumo affair.
The house was passed to The National Trust in 1942 with the condition that the family would continue to live there.
The Astor family stopped living at Cliveden in the 1970s.
The house is surrounded by 376 acres of gardens and woodland that are always open to National Trust visitors.
The house is currently on lease to a company that operates the estate as a luxurious, five-star, Relais & Châteaux hotel and is generally not open to National Trust Visitors.

The Clock Tower
by Henry Clutton, London
1861
A prominent and historical landmark located in the grounds of Cliveden.
Described by the architectural critic Nikolaus Pevsner as "the epitome of Victorian flamboyance and assertiveness."
Commissioned by the 2nd Duke of Sutherland, who owned Cliveden at that time.
The tower was part of the Duke’s vision to enhance the grandeur of the estate and to illustrate his wealth and status.
Originally intended to serve as a water tower supplying water to the estate. Over time it became more of an ornamental feature but it is still a functional water tower that provides water to the house.
The structure is built in the Italianate style and is notable for its elaborate design and the use of gold leaf.
Topped with a gilded ball and a weathervane which adds to the decorative appeal.
The clock was made by the famous clockmaker James McCabe of the London firm McCabe & Sons.
The tower stands at 100 ft making it a prominent feature on the estate’s skyline.

This was last nights sunset. Did you guys in Portland see it? Holy Cow! It looked like it covered the entire western front of the Cascades from Portland up to Kelso.
This was an easy call! I grabbed my gear and my son and I headed down to Lacamas Lake and enjoyed this amazing sunset. It's kind of nice living so close to such an easy place to photograph.

Taken at Narellan McDonalds. There were four sets of shoes and only 3 kids playing in the playground... I wonder which set have been left?

Thanks to Gerry Doby and Mark Llanuza for a heads up on this one. A semi trailer truck trying to back up the access road under the EJ&E overpass here, averted disaster by about 15 minutes. Knowing this train was coming, and seeing a truck driver blocking Powis Rd, and the tracks while he did a 10 point backup turn was a bit exciting. Luckily men and equipment were all clear by the time this thing went flying thru

We’ve been out hitting second hand furniture stores for a while looking for some nicer pieces of older furniture to replace some pressed wood/build at home stuff either of us had been carrying around for years that had finally started meeting their well deserved ends. Stopping into a favorite place to snoop around we saw the vanity first and I, of course, talked myself out of it. Then we saw the matching dresser and nightstand and immediately went home to measure and see if we could rent a van. As of 3PM today we had finally got the rooms cleaned up, sorted, and more unpacked to allow us to move everything in from the garage. These are the nicest pieces of furniture I’ve ever bought myself. They go so well in the bedroom and sewing room. We’re going to search for a similar and semi-compatible smaller mid-century dresser and another night stand. I’m not one who is terribly bothered by matching sets (all of my flatware is mismatched and second hand from one off pieces I’ve thrifted that I liked the look or weight of), but I think two different size dressers and same sized night stands in a similar wood/finish/style would look beautiful in this bedroom. I am so pleased with this purchase. We also picked up what may also be a mid-century octagon end table for our big beautiful owl lamp to sit on. I’ll snap some photos of that later though.

The Ajuda National Palace, a neoclassical building from the first half of the 19th century, was built upon plans drawn by the architects Francisco José Fabri (1761-1817) and José da Costa e Silva (1741-1819). It became a royal residence on king Luís I (1861-1889) accession to the throne and it remained as such until the end of the Monarchy, in 1910.
From 1862, when the king married Maria Pia Princess of Savoy, onto the end of his reign, the ever-unfinished palace was brought into life. Its decorative interiors suffered great changes from the beginning. Joaquim Possidónio da Silva (1806-1896), the royal architect, was in charge of the works. He renewed the room’s distribution and decoration according to the 19th century modern standards, where comfort and hygiene were vital. New rooms were created: the winter garden, the Saxe and the Chinese rooms, a dining room for the family daily meals and bathrooms with all the recent amenities, such as cold and hot running water. For fifty years the palace was the stage to a whole lot of events: princes were born and christened – Carlos (1863-1908) and Afonso (1865-1920) –, the State Counsel gathered here, balls, banquets and court ceremonies took place.
In 1910, when the Republic was instated, the consequent exile of the royal family brought a closure period upon the palace. It opened to the public as a Museum since 1968. It still holds its decorative artworks in place in a lively and truthful to its origins display. On the ground floor, from the Music Room onwards, the private apartments can be found, while State Rooms occupy the upper floor. As a museum, it gathers important collections of decorative arts from the 18th and 19th centuries: gold and silver works, textiles, furniture and ceramics as well as paintings, sculptures and photographs. The most important State ceremonies held by the President of the Republic still take place here.
