Model "US Truck T2 MkII v2.0" is build with LEGO® in scale 1:17,5 and motorized using LEGO® Power Functions®. This model is not build after a specific brand or type of truck. It represents the well iconic US style truck with classic looks.
The truck features: solid axle suspension on all axles, PF powered driving with power transmitted independently to both rear axles, Ackerman geometry on steering axle, Servo powered steering, fully functional fifth wheel, modeled engine, detailed cabin interior and 3 light units.
With the release of v2.0 of this build quite some improvement were made. First of all some hard to get parts have been replaced. Not all, but it is easier to build this beauty. Next has the exterior been updated. Now it's features has been extended with openable doors, a easier to open hood and detailed cabin interior.
This model is another custom design by Ingmar Spijkhoven AKA 2LegoOrNot2Lego that comes with building instructions and inventory/parts list!
You can build it yourself! To do so you can buy the Building Instructions. Early in the building process you will see what it is that you are building. You will be very excited from the moment you start the build of "US Truck T2 MkII v2.0" till you finish it with a total number of about 2000 pieces.
As one of the designer's trademarks this truck model is provided with full solid axle suspension on all axles, so including the front steered axle. Regular LEGO® Technic shock absorbers proved too large. Instead Rubber Belts are used, to achieve this the movement is converted using a lever constructions.
This truck model is powered by a Detroit Diesel DD15 which is revealed with the hood opened. This power source is an inline 6 cylinder engine with a displacement of 906 cu. in. (14.9 L). The horsepower range is from 455 up to 505 HP and this engine has a torque range from 1550 to 1750.
This detailed engine is very nice to build and to give it those realistic looks a total number of about 90 parts is used. Engine is detailed with for example engine oil dipstick, fan, fan belt, pulleys, hoses, oil filters including by-pass oil filter, turbo, exhaust manifold and so on. Together with much more engine bay details which are added the looks are phenomenal. These include break fluid reservoir, windshield washer container, external air cleaner system with tubing and steering shaft.
A lot of detail is added to the cabin's interior as well in the colors Dark Bluish Gray with some Tan details. By opening this model’s doors one can access the cabin. The interior's colors, which is quite dark, really standout because of the truck's body work mainly white color.
For the driver's comfort the interior has gauges, switches, speakers and comfortable seats. Other details are a glove compartment, more compartments in both doors, angled dash and gauge panel, a steering wheel and a gear shift.
A bunch of people ordered Tom Servo plushes for Christmas presents this year, so I finally got to take some pictures of all the sizes together. They're made to order, so I usually one have one or two around at any one time.
Model "US Truck T1 MkII" is build with LEGO® in scale 1:17,5 and motorized using LEGO® Power Functions. It is not build after a specific brand or type of truck. This build represents the more aerodynamic US truck models like for example the Freightliner Cascadia.
The truck features: solid axle suspension on all axles, PF powered driving with power transmitted independently to both rear axles, Ackerman geometry on steering axle, Servo powered steering, fully functional fifth wheel, modeled engine, detailed cabin interior and 3 light units.
Also can you build it yourself. To do so you can buy the building instructions and check the inventory/parts lists!.
The LEGO® Power Functions® Servo is used to enable the steering. Aligned with the trucks chassis the Servo is sitting inside of the cabin right behind the modeled engine in between both seats. With a 90 degrees conversion the motion of the Servo is transferred to the steering axle.
This truck model is powered by a CAT® CT15 which is revealed with the hood opened and its yellow color makes is an eye catcher. This power source is an inline 6 cylinder engine with a displacement of 15.21L. With a horsepower range from 450 up to 550 HP and this engine has a torque range from 1550 to 1850 lb-ft. (1202 - 2508 Nm) at 1200 rpm peak torque.
The modeled engine is a small object that really improves the realism of this model. The engine is very nice to build and to give it those realistic looks a total number of about 120 parts is used. Engine is detailed with for example engine oil dipstick, fan, fan belt, pulleys, hoses, oil filters including by-pass oil filter, turbo, exhaust manifold and so on. Together with much more engine bay details which are added the looks are phenomenal. These include break fluid reservoir, windshield washer container, internal air cleaner system and steering shaft.
A lot of detail is added to the cabin's interior as well in the colors Tan and Dark Bluish Gray. By opening this model’s doors one can access the cabin. Openable doors give the model very realistic looks and makes the detailed interior visible. The interior's colors really standout because of the rather dark color scheme of the truck's body work.
Dark Bluish Gray is used for both the interior and the exterior in order to link both color palettes. For the driver's comfort the interior has gauges, switches, speakers, cup holders, comfortable seats. Other details are a glove compartment, more compartments in both doors, angled dash and gauge panel, a steering wheel and a gear shift.

In July of 2016, I bought the builder's kit, built it and drove it for a few years with some minor upgrades.
When I moved to new house in August of 2018, I stopped driving it and it sat on a shelf slowly collecting dust.
As of January 2023, I have upgraded it quite a bit and I do enjoy driving it once again.
Using Spektrum Smart Pro Series G2 LiPo batteries with a Spektrum S1200 G2 AC Smart Charger makes it so much easier, almost set it and forget it. And the Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion Pro 2-in-1 ESC and sensored brushless motor is awesome. Using the Hobbywing Program Card makes setting the ESC a breeze, even in the field, because it uses the LiPo power!
2016 CUSTOM MODS
Of the 95% of the vehicle that was black, I painted it silver.
Only the fake air intakes and the axles remain the original kit black color.

2023 CUSTOM MODS
I have removed the Axial AX31323 receiver box and mount, AXA150 spare tire holder and AX31320 rear bumper and the AX31125 fuel cell box.
I replaced all of them with small aluminum tubes, which are bolted and Permatex Blue Threadlocked together with small diameter steel rods for additional structural support and to eliminate any twisting or flexing. The added rear weight is balanced by a steel ScalerFab bumper in front. The COG (center of gravity) is still low by running steel side skids, an aluminum main skid plate, brass and aluminum wheel weights, stainless steel links and a lot of other metal parts installed down low.
I also custom fit a pair of Axial AX31317 AR60 lower link / shock axle mounts to use the shorter length Axial King shocks up front.

Model "Truck T14" KrAZ 255B 6x6 is build with LEGO® in scale 1:17,5 and motorized using LEGO® Power Functions®. It is a model of a KrAZ 255B 6x6 off-road truck which is used for extreme applications.
The truck features: solid axle suspension on all axles of which the rear axles use a tandem bogie suspension, PF powered driving on all axles 6x6 drive, reduced speed to increase power/torque, Servo powered steering, fully functional fifth wheel, modeled V8 engine, detailed cabin interior and two light units.
Scale: 1:17,5
Length: 477 mm (+ trailer 926 mm)
Weight: 1,92kg (+ trailer 2,41kg)
Parts: 1840 (+ trailer 2270)
As a tribute to this truck this project shows some of the unlimited possibilities. Even though this specific truck was never produced as a civilian truck however after its retirement it has been used as such. Within a couple of minutes it can be changed into one of the four different editions which include:
- Semi-truck with fifth wheel
- Ballast tractor with ballast box
- Trial Truck edition
- Log Truck with stinger steered trailer
So it is up to you what kind of job it does: just having fun as it being a Trial Truck, or will you give it a semi-trailer? Or will it be hauling logs?
Both front and rear axles are fitted with "Technic Steering Wheel Hub with 2 Pin Holes". These hubs have proved to be a real improvement, less friction and the wheels do not bend under the weight of the model as it would without.
This KrAZ 255B 6x6 model is powered by a YaAZ-238A V8 4-stroke Diesel Engine which is visible with the hood opened. This power source has 8 cylinders in a V setup with a displacement of 14,87 liters. The initial YaMZ-238 delivered 215 hp with a torque of 785 at 1500 rpm. Since 1966 the YaAZ-238A engine was installed and delivered 240 hp with a torque of 883 at 1500 rpm.
This detailed V8 engine is nice to build and to give it those realistic looks a total number of 80 parts is used. It is detailed with for example air filter, fan, fan belt, pulleys, hoses, by-pass oil filter and the exhaust system.
Together with much more engine bay details which are added the looks are phenomenal. These include break fluid reservoir, multiple reservoirs and details, radiator with tubing and steering shaft.
By opening the cabin doors the interior becomes visible. It shows a steering wheel, basic gauge setup, a gear shift and another shift to engage high or low gear and finally some basic seats.
A place was needed to fill up my growing number of vehicles to keep them on the road, so for a while I was slowly working away at this servo. I had a surge of enthusiasm over the weekend and I managed to throw in as many details as I could to get this basically finished. I'll keep adding little bits and pieces to it over time and eventually get around to adding signs but for now it suits my needs. More photos are in the album.
I saw her from across the way and just ran over and got as far as "Are you Tom.." before she said YES!
She is awesome.
more trains soon... it was so cold today my hands cracked into a bloody mess... batteries died after this shot and i've lost my charger... i guess i lied about posting more trains soon...
Remote controlled Rover, I challenged myself to make a remote controlled 6x6 with all wheel drive, as small as possible, front and rear steering, suspension and as many lights as I can cram into this model as possible. This model contains 1 buggy motor, 1 pf steering servo, 1 pf v2 IR receiver, 1 pf switch, 4 sets of pf LEDs, 2 pf extension cables and 2 old school lego LED lights (for the flashing lights)
