Out of Walmart and it was snowing to my surprise. Walmart is a cesspool of a merchant retailer serving the masses. I don't like being there. So it was time to get out while the getting was good. I made a decision to drop off my dad and go take a picture.

Lumberton, NC
Vintage Americana right here. The Dixie Drive-In opened in the 1960s and is still serving customers in Lumberton, a small(ish) city in North Carolina.
Here's a snippet from an excellent article about the Dixie that Andrew Kenney wrote for the Our State web site:
"Practically speaking, the Dixie has to be a drive-in. With just six booths, 15 stools, and a bathroom around back, the building is too small for many diners to eat inside.
This is the way Howard and Edith Stevens, the Dixie’s founders, imagined the place. Howard had worked nights on the short-order line at a drive-in after spending the day laboring on the family farm outside Whiteville. When he and Edith decided to sell the farm and open the Dixie in 1963, their sons — George, Steve, and Tony — were nearly grown.
Older patrons can tell you how they remember the husband-and-wife team: Edith cooking fries while Howard worked the grill in a long-sleeve shirt and dress shoes. They claim they never saw a stain of mustard or ketchup on Howard.
They also remember how the sons came in after school and worked shifts. Now those shifts have turned into careers: George has never worked anywhere else; Steve came back after serving in the Air Force; and Tony, a Baptist preacher on the side, found his way home after attending Bible college.
“You do what your daddy says,” Steve says with a laugh. “I pretty much knew I was going to come back.”
Generations of customers — the children and grandchildren of the mechanics and lawyers and farmhands in Robeson County — come back, too. They come back for the same burger, fixed the same way. It only costs a little more than it used to."

Pilot Officer John Gillespie Magee, an American serving in the Royal Canadian Airforce was killed in a mid-air collision during practice maneuvers on December 13th, 1941 aged 19. As well as being a pilot, J G Magee was also a poet and wrote the poem High Flight.

Serving the small community of Tokigawa at the base of the mountains at the edge of the Tokyo Metropolis is Myōkaku Station. This stop is one of the nicer ones on the rural Hachiko Line with its restored log cabin like exterior to match the vibe of the local area it serves. Here a "Futsu" (Local) departs the station bound for Komagawa, a few stops to the south.

Temporary TT scale (1:120) table top photo arrangement. The background picture was taken at a former industrial site. The enlarging close-up shot proves the high standard of models available today in TT scale.
Córdoba, a sun-drenched Andalusian city in southern Spain, is a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its profound Moorish history, best exemplified by the stunning Mosque-Cathedral (Mezquita). With a population of over 325,000, it offers a blend of Roman, Visigothic, and Islamic heritage, featuring a labyrinthine old town, vibrant flower-filled patios, and rich, traditional cuisine. Originally a Roman colony, it later fell under Visigothic rule in the 6th century. Conquered by Muslims in the 8th century, it became the capital of the Emirate and Caliphate of Córdoba, serving as a premier center of education and learning in Europe. Following the Reconquista it became a Catholic city in 1236, blending Christian and Islamic architecture.
Adult Common Loon (Gavia immer) is busy early and often catching minnows, small fish and crayfish for two growing chicks. Here it is swimming by with a crappie for the nearby chick. Taken in Tomahawk, Wisconsin (Lincoln County) on August 10, 2014.
On our Skye holiday we took a little trip into Portree. It has a colourful little harbour.
It also had a the hunger inducing smell of chips from a chip shop serving from a window hatch in these Covid times, we couldn't resist and the chips were great!
However, they put a large tent in front of the store for customers to eat in, we kept out and it did spoil the view a bit!

San Clemente, CA
Last November I helped work a fundraiser at a local golf course. There was a little bit of time before guests started to arrive so I pulled out my camera and took a few shots of the tables. I had never really tried something like this previously and seldom pull the camera out indoors. I may use one of these in the ad for next year's event.
