UC San Diego nanoengineers developed a safety feature that prevents lithium metal batteries from rapidly overheating and catching fire in case of an internal short circuit. The clever tweak does not prevent battery failure, but rather provides advance warning of failure and makes it much safer.

This is a good picture showing the efficiency of the EdjeTech oil water separator. The contaminated fluid comes into the bag filter on the right. The filtered fluid flows out of the bag filter through the coalescing chamber in the middle. The free oil is shown floating on the surface. The free oil will seep over the trough separating the bag filter and coalescing chamber, then gravity drain out of the system into a holding container. Finally, the clean fluid (left) overflows the pipe back into the coolant reservoir.

The C.R.O.S.S. Unit was developed for shops having machine tools with individual coolant reservoirs.

C.R.O.S.S. is used in conjunction with a portable sump cleaner/filter that is used on a regular basis to remove contaminated coolant and all swarf, chips and sludge from the coolant reservoir.

The C.R.O.S.S. Unit is furnished in start up condition, needing only electrical hook up and water supply for the coolant proportioner.

The C.R.O.S.S. is manufactured from mild coated steel and other high grade material suited for industrial applications.

These tubes are serum separator tubes, often referred to as a "tiger top". These tubes contain gels at the bottom that speeds up blood clotting, allowing the red cells and platelets to clot at the bottom of the tube, and the serum to rise to the top.

This is the way Tibetan nomads make butter from fresh yak milk, using an old fashioned hand-powered separator. The family we stayed with for the night had afforded the luxury of having an electric one, powered by a large solar panel, however (not shown in this picture).

These separators were used to separate the cream from the milk.

When I was a child spending my summer holidays with my aunt and my grandmother, I had to do this, and I liked to do it!

Semi open space with the separators. Note that the separators will be mounted on rails and can slide one behind the other.

White Coroplast (plastic corregated cardboard) for cell seperator, and as a front/back cell protector. The corregation allows for convection cooling of the LiFePo4 cells, along with protecting them from harms way. If ever needed, forced airflow can be introduced by pressurized air from the bottom of the battery module, venting out the top of the module.
