With a little green in between. This is on the dam that separates the eastern and western basins of the Ismaninger Speichersee, with the western basin visible to the left.
The Ismaninger Speichersee is a reservoir in the north of Munich, built in 1929 to regulate the water flow for the run-of-the-river power plants along the Isar Canal.
The reservoir and the adjacent fish ponds are a nature reserve (Europareservat) and an Important Bird Area (IBA).

Two small planets rotate on an elliptical axis without ever meeting. But in the evening, as soon as they realign at the closest point, if nothing else they can see each other, along with everything that divides them ...
It is the third highest mountain in Brazil, situated on the border of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais states. It is the highest point in both states. It was historically considered the highest mountain in Brazil until 1965, when Pico da Neblina and Pico 31 de Março, next to the Venezuelan border, were explored, measured, and both found to be higher. The peak is said to have been so named after Pedro II, Emperor of Brazil, ordered a flag to be flown on top of it.
It is one of the major attractions of Caparaó National Park, accessible from the nearby town of Alto Caparaó. That town and the entrance to the park lie in Minas Gerais, but the summit of Pico da Bandeira lies in Espírito Santo.
The summit is accessible to hikers of most age groups, with only very limited fitness requirements. The track from the park entrance to the summit track [8 km (5.0 mi)] can be driven by most vehicles, and the summit track itself runs for approximately 9 km (5.6 mi), with a further 1,000 m (3,280 ft) climb.

The difference from the third highest to the first is only 101.80 meters / 334 ft in altitude.
I climbed the third, fourth and sixth in Brazil this weekend. Only the sixth mountain is challenging.
* For reasons of topographical prominence, the IBGE considers Pico do Calçado a secondary peak of Pico da Bandeira and not a separate mountain.

Seit 1820 gibt es im Hospital zwei Längsgänge mit aneinander gereihten 4qm großen, hölzernen Kammern, die nach oben offen sind und bis 1970 bewohnt wurden.
In diesen "Kabäuschen" waren die Bewohner des Hospitals nach Geschlechtern getrennt untergebracht. An den Türen der Kammern sind heute noch die Namen und Nummern ihrer Bewohner zu lesen.
Since 1820 there have been two long corridors in the hospital with rows of 4 square meter wooden chambers that are open at the top and were inhabited until 1970.
The residents of the hospital were accommodated in these "cubbyholes" separated by gender. The names and numbers of the residents can still be read on the doors of the chambers.

The Iconic "Rostrum". Yosemite Valley, CA.
I've marveled at the aesthetic beauty of this formation while driving up hwy 140 into Yosemite valley. This view is from Big Oak Flat Road. While this road is extremely scenic, it was always point A to point B for me and I never attempted to stop at any of the crowded pull outs. This past weekend I finally took the time and enjoyed the view.
Yes, there's some semblance of a fence there. We found that many fences in Iceland are more of a suggestion than a rule. Sheep, for instance, generally graze where they wish, including near or crossing roads frequently. Ranchers will round them up in the fall, then separate them by owner.
Carcès (pronounced car-says') is a village in the Var, between Cotignac and the Thoronet Abbey. It's quite a large village, laid out in a rectangle, with the different parts of the village separated somewhat from each other. One part, perched on a low hill and called the old town (vieille ville), has a lot of stone walls and stone arches. The "newer" parts of Carcès, though, have narrow streets, vaulted passages and medieval portails and ancient houses and doorways. All in all, Carcès is a very interesting village to visit. One of the most striking things about Carcès are the trompe l'oeil wall murals and the colorful fish-scale wall tiles on some of the houses.
The mairie (town hall) and the library (médiatheque municipale) are located in a quiet little square completely surrounded by buildings, at the site of an old olive-oil mill, the "Huilerie St Charles". In a hidden little passage behind the library, the large iron waterwheel is still in place against the back of the building.
Commerce and Cafés
Carcès has a good variety of shops for every-day needs, including gift/souvenir shops, banks, and a post office.
The selection of terrace cafés seemed a bit limited, but we did find a couple that were nicely acceptable. One is located on the Place des Martyrs de la Résistance (Place de l'Hotel de Ville on the town map), shaded by enormous platan trees and bordered by ancient buildings and the picturesque bell tower with campanile on top and arched passage at the bottom. The fountain here, with a tall column and four carven faces is nicely grungy on one side, accentuating its age.
Saturday morning market day is a real event in Carcès. The market fills several streets in the central part of town, and there's a good variety in the types of stalls, including, clothes, baskets, cooked foods, Provencal and local specialities, olive-wood items, fruits, vegetables, and so on. The nearby Lac de Carcès, about 4 km south of town, is pretty, but doesn't have beaches, swimming, boating or water sports.
Cabro d'Or Legend (Légende de la Cabro d'Or). The legend of the mysterious golden goat is popular in Carcès, with the town's main hotel-restaurant named after it.
Trompe l'oeil Murals
There are four main trompe l'oeil wall mural locations, but smaller ones decorate buildings here and there in the town.
1 - at the Ofice de Tourisme building (corner of Rue Marechal Foch and Ave G. Clemenceau), depicts sacks and barrels being hoisted up the side of the building to be stored in the warehouse.
2 - at the top of Rue Marechal Foch, close to the Office de Tourisme, a group of Royals are standing inside an arched passage.
3 - Rue Hoche at the northern edge of town, a woman hangs clothes on an upper-floor terrace while a man presses grapes around the side of the ground floor.
4 - Rue Florentin Giraud, the long "maison de repos" building has a wonderful collection of different facades, pastel colors, shutters and balistrades, pillars, tiled roofs and drain pipes.
The wall paintings are all done by the same artist: Michel DEGUIL. His phone number is on the "maison de repos" facade.
Fountains
A guidebook from the Office de Tourisme lists 19 fountains on a "Circuits des Fontaines et Lavoirs", similar to the (Gonfaron). Touring Carcès to locate the fountains would be a fun way to see the town, but you would have to mark the locations on a map yourself.
The village of Gonfaron, about 20 km to the southeast, also has a circuit of discovery for their village's 16 ancient fountains, and they have an animal legend with their "flying donkey".

This site was planned to be filled in for waste disposal. But after strong opposition, the waste was separated and reduced in volume. The landfill was cancelled, and Fujimae Tidal Flat was saved.

Happy Caturday!! Viking Iceland cruise excursion from Reykjavik
Garðskagaviti can be found on the topmost point of the Reykjanes Peninsula, directly above Keflavík International Airport (KEF). Originally, a lighthouse at the site was constructed with timber in 1897 by the Danish Lighthouse Commission. In 1933, the lighthouse was renovated, reinforced with concrete, before being decommissioned in 1944 due to fear of landslides.
Garðskagaviti, standing at 26 metres high, was built as a replacement. It is today considered one of Iceland’s most picturesque lighthouses with its vibrant red and white paint job and gorgeous surrounding scenery.
The lighthouse keeper kept a permanent residence here until 1979.

Just outside of town here there are so many lovely farms and fences on the farms. I love living here.
The cities are close enough when I want and it is just the right mix of everything here.

When he passes by even the crows flee ...
I went to him and shot a few photos, which bored him.
Then I approached and offered him my hand to sniff;
he sniffed, and I became bolder;
he even let me touch and stroke him - up to a point:
then he bit heartily into my hand that the skin almost separated from the flesh!
When he let go, I had deep bleeding wounds.
We played together for a short time until I left him.
Anyway, he of course claimed his territory!

Hocking Hills State Park is a non-contiguous state park in the Hocking Hills region of Hocking County, Ohio, United States; it is contiguous with the Hocking State Forest. Within the park are several spectacular rock formations, including Old Man's Cave, a narrow, deep gorge featuring waterfalls; Rock House, a cliffed area with a rock shelter; Cantwell Cliffs, a broad gorge at the head of a hollow with a unique stone stairway; and Ash Cave, a large rock shelter with a small waterfall, and Cedar Falls, a larger waterfall south of Old Man's Cave.[1]
